Default saff cossie 4x4 steering column bush

Ive just bought one for my car.Its the one that sits in the bulk head.Whats the easiest way to change it. DO you just take the steering shaft off that is connected to the rack and get the bush out that way?

Thanks for any help....

Think I had to take the steering wheel and column etc out when I did mine. Its not that complicated, but my lower dash and clock surround were already out of the car at the time. Should only take a couple of hours iw ould have thought.

I think 1/2 the bush fits into the bulkhead from the inside which is why the column comes out. After you take the steering wheel off and the surround etc, disconnect the indicators/ ignition loom, im sure its only 2 13mm bolts and it lifts out.

id check the workshop manual just incase i did mine the long way

what you need is a 10mm spanner, a BIG FUCK OFF screwdriver and a hammer to bash it with

in the engine bay, undo the 10m bolt that secures the intermediate shaft to the inner steering column that you'll find poking through the bulkhead

then, get inside the foot well (a tight squeeze) and pull the retaining metal triangular tab washer thing back up the shaft

once it's out the way, bash the rubber/plastic bits all the way through into the engine bay

some cars had a metal cap over the rubber bung so make sure you don't loose that

then, working in the engine bay, push the inner part of the bush up into the foot well

then the round plastic bit into the foot well

then the rubber bit into the foot well

now, working in the foot well, fit the rubber bung into the bulkhead

then push the outer plastic bush into the rubber bung

then push the inner part of the plastic bush into place

then push the metal tab into place

back into the engine bay, put the metal cap back on again if you had one

then refit the intermediate shaft (you should have one part of the triangle with a locating pin in there so you can't fit it incorrectly, but make sure you mark it up before you take it apart

if you know what you are doing, this job may take as long as 10 minutes, or 15 if you take a tea break

if you are a first time novice, put aside an afternoon because you will get something wrong
