Oil press/temp gauges
Hi just wonder where you guys take ya sensor feeds from, Is it best to take a tee adapter off the oil press light sensor?
Has anyone used those sandwich adapters that go between oil filter and its housing?
Or any other ideas would be great Thanks

You can't use a std oil pressure switch as this merely says earth not earth to illuminate a light, so you need a correct pressure capsule, the one that should come withthe gauge as they need to be calbrated to each other, ie have the same resistance otherwise gauge will be innacurate.
Some take the temp reading by placing a temp sensor in place of the sump plug as it is cheal quick and easy.

Thanks tab, i was not meaning to use the std switch for gauge, just thinking of putting a T adapter in its place so then can feed the gauge and still keep the warning light.

I stuck a sandwichplate in between the block and the oilfilter. Works a treat.
It's quite common to stick a T-piece in the block so you can keep the idiotlightswitch and fit a aftermarket oilpressure sensor there as well.
My set-up will be a oilpressure probe where the idiotlightswitch originally is and an oilpressure line from the sandwichplate. Might not use the idiotlightswitch. No use for it. Idiotlightswitch goes on at at oilpressure below 10psi, (tuned) engine is usually long gone by then so don't really see the point keeping it.
I am using cappilary RaceTech gauges. Saves messing with electrics and look the dog's danglies.

i also have a sandwichplate in between the block and the oilfilter and seams to work far better i used to have the oil temp sensor in the sump and it never gave me a reading

Rather than using a tee piece (cos my turbo oil feed line wasn't long enough to allow the use of one), i got the original oil switch housing/block (what ever you want to call it), tapped to take my oil pressure gauge line AS WELL.
Nice neat job.
BTW my oil pressure gauge is a mechanical one.
