I bet the white sapph (Rod Tarry's car?) that did 208mph can do it? That's a 2WD right?

I think to get a 2wd saph to make 10's in quarter mile you need to change the rear axle for a 9inch and use slicks other wise you are looking for only 11's maximum

The Harris boys can somehow manage 10's in NA pinto powered Mk1 Escorts so surely a big power Saph can be made to do it too....

In a mk1 escort with cossi engine will run even 8s. In malta mk1 with Pinto and Nos run 9.7 all the time but in a Sapphire it's a whole different story!

The trouble with 2wd cossie's in grip, as the cars squat leaving the line, the wheels due to suspension arm pivot points suddenly have massive camber as a result of the squat and this leads to a massive reduction in grip. One lad, Danny? of some fabrication company, changed his rear suspension completely and was running 12's on just a stg3 set up.

Its only done 1 quarter mile on the same day as the first 200mph run so not geared or tyred to run 10's.
It recorded a 11.5 @ 139 the terminal saying it had lots of Power but no grip off the line, its much quicker now & expect a close to 150 terminal not really into quarter miles, but im sure a 10 is possible.

The quarter mile mostly depends on the first 60ft. So if you leave the line with more than 2 sec then you won't probably make much of a good time. The mk1 escorts pwered pintos make good times coz they got a first 60 of a 1.4!!!! So that saves a lot when comes to quarter mile figures. The 2wd sierras make 2sec best so it more time lose there. The 4wd s can have a 1.6- 1.7 and that saves almost aonother sec at the end. I only did 13.4 with a first 60ft of 2.8!!! and terminal speed of 109mph. Thats with road tyres and 15inch wheels with a 350bhp engine. Now I want to try with my new engine which is soppose to be more than 400bhp ond I got 17 inch wheels. Hope to be in 12s!!

It also depends on the quarter mile surface too, santa pod is amazing in comparasing to crail, my old boy did 13.3 at crail and done a 12.6 at the pod
