Quaife, Gripper or ? rear diff?
Hi folks
I need a second (or third) opinion on diff choice. The car is a Capri with a Sierra IRS, running a turbo Pinto. I have used a 7" viscous diff, uprated by Gearboxman but one of the planet gears shattered lately so I need something better.
Some people seem to rate the Quaife diff higly but on the other hand a plate type LSD is a tried and tested concept - and the Gripper seems to be a bit cheaper at £500 instead of £750 or thereabouts for a Quaife to suit a Cossie 7" diff.
What are your opinions? 7" or 7,5" does not matter too much for me although 7" is easier since I can keep the rear beam I have now.
Power, say 280-330 bhp or so (enough to do a 112 mph trap speed on the 1/4 mile). Street, strip and track use.
Regards
Gustaf
