If I remember right when I did mine there is no drain plug ?, so just top up.
If you defo want to change it then you are going to have to try getting tube inside to suck the oil out or take diff off car to drain.
Even with tube because of what is in the way it is very doubtful if you would get much oil out anyway.

there is no drain plug, but you can unscrew the bolts and seperate the back plate from the casing with a screw driver and i will re-seal. Or you could just take the diff out, but thats a big job just to change some oil.

I think it takes about 1L of 80w gear oil. But fiill it up till it comes out the fill plug.

Also before tring to lossen the bolts give them a "tap" they are always very tight and can sheer.

i always replaced the oil when i di the job. just topping up is not as good as the old oil will have lost it's properties

i used to do it by sucking out through a tube with a vacuum pump, but rear cover plate can be removed

I just did mine with a big syringe, alot of patience.
It should take just a touch under 1 litre before it reaches the plug.

I definately wouldn't feel like the job was complete if I only 'topped' it up as opposed to getting all the old stuff out first.
To a lesser degree it's like, only ever topping your engine oil up rather than getting a full oil change every 3000/6000 Miles

Totally agree. You would not just top up your engine oil would you. This is just the same.

A ltr of oil seems a lot, does this fill it to the top of the cover, (to the breather) or half way or just to the big plug??
