Default 2.0dohc oil

my sierra has a 2.0 l4 efi lump. its only done 80k but its gettin a bit noisy, especially on statup. although it doesnt take long to settle. is it safe to use a higher viscosity oil?

Hi mate i used 2 have 1 of these engines in my sierra gt.It had about 120000 on the clock n the tappets rattled every now n then when i started it up.I just used castrol magnatex for years cause i got it from work for nothing, n it was always ok in the 3 years of owning the car.

otherwise it tends to leak out of the seals

some peole say they have got away with using 10/30 but it's too thin for the engine


if you ask ford they will sell you 10/30 because thats what they always sell you now, same for the gearbox fluid, it's got to be the right one for the MT75 box as the other stuff is crap for it

if it's getting noisey it might be worth doing a top end strip down on it as in cams and tappets as well as the chain and tensioner

the tappets you can pull apart and clean out
