Default Sapphire rear chassis rails

Im looking for a sapphire shell as mine needs quite alot of work doing (rear arches, front wing, boot floor etc etc)

I went to look at one earlier and it is in very good condition except for the n/s/r chassis rail. It is cracked along the corner about 6/7inches long.

Whats a rough price to get a chassis rail sorted properly?
Also can you see inside the rails anyway to check for rust?

Cheers

Mart

if it's near the bendy bits under the seats walk away
if it's in the straight bits in the last section then you can get that fized

If you look at the n/s/r arch. The crack is to the left of the spring mount.
Is this the 'bendy' part you mean doji?

Are they too much hassle to get sorted you think?

if the rust has started and got a hold of the chassis rail anywehre near the underneath of the rear seats then you would really have to think long and hard before making a dscision

i've got pics at home where a saph that i bought was great up until the rear seats, and fine past the middle of the rear wheel arches too
but the bits in the middle were so full ofholes it make swiss cheese jealous, no word of a lie i peeled the rust back to revlea a hole big enogh to put my fist through on the chassis rail

no wonder the handling was a bit "floaty"

Is the underseal cracked showing the chassis rail cracked or do you have to scrap the underseal off to inspect them??

The one i looked at you could see the crack through the underseal.
The underseal had pealed away and the crack in the metal was quite visible.

there are some plugs under the back seat so you can look inside, but if that is only fault with shell I am sure you could do it ok, even cut a better one off another shell if necessary, but I would have thought that most sierras have a little rust on the rails, as it is an area overlooked when most people rust proof their cars, I have a 3 door never been on the road in the winter and I have found a bit of surface rust on mine under the beam, but it has not gone through I have tried, but I will clean this up now and fill them with dinitrol hope it keeps it all at bay.
