Default Anyone tried Mike R's wheel shims for a Saph?

Was looking on the RandB Website and they are only a tenner!

Got to be worth a try for that kind of money, can anyone recommend them?

They help reduce the negative camber that (more so on lowered) Saffs suffer with.

Stick them on the beam somewhere I think.

Get on msn John, where you been?

I've heard that you need new bearings etc as everything needs to come apart when you fit them so it's not as cheap as just chucking a Ł10 part on the car?

No m8,don't need to replace bearings

Depending on mileage they have done it might be a good idea to change them while the hubs are apart

ford prices are plenty for the rear bearings
but the ones with the metal cages (i think they aer timkins ones) can be had for about Ł12 from ebay both sides

the shims work by pushing the wheels where they need to be to counteract the forces pushing them backwards

i'm sure mike will explain again for those who haven't read his desctiptions before

There a lot of bollocks here(not all).
I fitted a set to mine from mike r.
All the dismantling you need is to remove wheel, caliper, disc, LOOSEN all four bolts that hold rear hub on, take rear most upper and lower ones out, slide shimm between the hub and backplate, put bolts back in tighten up replace everything, takes about 1/2 hour per side.
The difference is better grip from rear end and less rear end steer or inner tyre wear, my car has no inner tyre wear depsite over 8000 miles, and yes I do drive mental!!
Well worth doing as they correct the inherrant TOE NOT CAMBER, they do NOT ALTER CAMBER AT ALL, just toe, to alter camber they would need placing in TOP TWO HOLES, to reduce, camber does not cause the wear TOE DOES.

Glad you cleared that up Tabetha, i've heard so may talk of Camber when my understanding was that these compensated for the toe out during hard acceleration.
May get some myself now.

You could use them for camber if any one wanted to, but as you probably know camber does not kill tyres TOE DOES.
The normal toe on cossies is no different to other sierra's ie they are TOE OUT, and under squat (acceleration) this gets worse due to the arms not being trailing arms but SEMI TRAILING.
For the price I thought give it a go, well worth doing IMO.
I used a little thin screwdriver to keep the gap open after removing bolts about 1/2" each.
