puma 1.7 zetec into my fiesta zetec s
after the bottom end gave up on my fiesta zetec s i have decided to fit the 1.7 puma engine.i have heard this is straight forward but am just unsure what bits i will need from the donar puma.i have heard that apparently i will need the clocks and also some thing about the key from the donar to match with the donars ecu.any help would be much appreciated.thank you

u need engine/box/loom/ecu/engine mounts. You need the key and ignition barell from the puma for the immobiliser in the ECU to work. Try to get stuff from a puma with digi clocks and it'll plug into your car a lot easier.
To be honest with you I've been getting ready to do this conversion myself, and its the wiring thats the hard part. I've had a go in a Zetec S thats been converted and I didn't think it was worth it, so have changed plans to a 2.0. It's not that much harder to do and its a massively better engine to start from if you want more from it in the future

as long as the ecu is from a 1.7 digital-clocks puma you'll be fine i think not sure how you'd go on with keys, the gist is to get a key thats tuned into the ecu. So you could try asking ford to tune your existing key into the new ecu, or buy a blank key and get that tuned in. The way its done is to put the blank key into the ignition barrell, and go through a set sequence of turns and stuff, and the ecu will download the imobiliser code into the key. I think Ford can do it a lot quicker off a laptop maybe? Go and ask them about re-programming an existing key, but as far as i know they can only do it with blanks
