Default Immobiliser Problem

Hi all,

Spent the day researching this problem and looks like my gf's KA has the dreaded immobiliser (PATS) problem. However I have both the red master key & normal 3 button key & neither will disengage the immobiliser allowing the car to start.

I'm doubtful that both keys would have dropped their codes so this all leads my to believe that it's the receiver ring that could be faulty. £20 on eBay is a punt I'm willing to take before biting the bullet and getting it the fault code read by an auto electrician.

So my question is basically can I just replace the receiver ring and that will work with my current keys, or would I have to replace everything as it seams to indicate online (ecu, receiver, barrels, locks & new keys)

The car is a 2001 KA 1.3 endura engine.

Thanks in advance for any help.
