Default Tailgate spoiler and trim removal - 06 Zetec

Hi guys. After lurking for while now I'm after a little help. My wife's 5-door is leaking water into the interior trim that surrounds the rear screen and so when the tailgate is lifted water runs out from the upper trim joints at either side and on to the parcel shelf. I can only assume that it is leaking in either through the glass to tailgate seal/bond or through the spoiler mounting holes and collecting in the 'bowl' of the upper piece of trim. Can anyone tell me how to remove the spoiler and the interior trim around the screen so I can check / re-seal?

Thanks

Ian

there's a piece of trim along the top this just pulls off i find pulling it from the bottom near the window is easiest that will then reveal 3 bolts for the spoiler there is 5 in total witch the other 2 you can see without taking the trim off there in either corner of the tailgate, then there's 2 metal clips again either side of the tail gate they go over the glass and spoiler i find that a flat head screwdriver will get these off, that's it dead simple

if you want to take the spoiler fully off then you will need to disconnect the break light first then when you have undone the spoiler move it away and you will need to disconnect the jet wash the pipe just pulls off

Wow, thanks for the fast response. I'll give it a go later.

Cheers

Worked a treat! However it felt safer to get the trim off without breaking anything by easing it up by the side closest to the top edge of the tailgate after having started it on its way by doing what you said, i.e. "there's a piece of trim along the top this just pulls off i find pulling it from the bottom near the window is easiest". I cleaned up the 5 rubber seals on the spoiler's mounting feet and smeared them with a little silicon before putting it all back together. Hopefully it has cured the leak.

Thanks again.
