Swapping a 1.6 tdci for a 2.0 lump?
Hi,
Can anyone offer some advice, I am considdering buying an 05 plate 1.6 tdci focus relatively cheap. My main concern with this is that i have read a lot of worrying posts about problems with the turbo failing due to oil starvation from blocked hoses. I was wondering if i bought it and this happend i could maybe fit a 2.0 ltr lump in instead.
I know you all maybe thinking "why doesnt he just buy a 2.0ltr in the first place?" well this car is about 2.6K and most of the 2.0lt versions i have seen around this area are a lot more expensive so fitting a bigger engine would be more financially viable. but can it be done without any major fettling?
Thanks.

You will hear problems with all these modern CR diesels, but give it a good service every 6k with proper castrol/mobil oil and quality filters and im betting it will be grand. The 1.6 110 isnt slow and very economical, but if you want a 2.0, just save a wee bit more to save hassle in the long run.
