Default racing puma box?

Just curious, was looking through gearbox options again and has this been done or is there an obvious reason for it not to be done that ive missed?
http://pumabuild.com/pumacat/product...roducts_id=865
Seems to tick all boxes, LSD, front starter, IB5 casing and alleged shot peened 1st and 2nd gear, also 3.82 final drive so should hit 150 in 5th. Thoughts? (theres a new one on ebay for £280 but I think that will have the 4.25 final drive in it)

As above hydro clutch, also the 5th gear casing may be too big (Some IB5 are) and so would need the inner wing cutting to fit, I can't see from that photo.
The FD is good but what are the other ratio's too? Usually 'sporty' models have close gears to give better acceleration and are not ideal for FI applications.

I want the hydro clutch so that's no issue. I had the ratios on laptop and with my tyres it was about 6000 rpm in 2nd for 60mph I think. Have to double check.

If the internet is correct the ratios are
Puma: 3.15, 1.92, 1.44, 1.07, 0.88.
RST : 3.15, 1.91, 1.28, 0.95, 0.76.

Using an online calculator, with a 3.82 FD on standard RST wheels it would be 130mph at 6,500 rpm in 5th.

Only 50 Racing puma's came with an LSD. Due to the internal diameter of the puma FD the S2 lsd won't fit without modification.

IB5's with the larger 5th gear casing to accommodate a revised mechanism inside, it's obvious when you look at them, but you don't cut the inner wing, you just use a different IB5.

Originally all 500 FRPs were to come with the LSD but it was changed to a £250 option at the 11th hour. 80 came from Tickford with them fitted with that option ticked.

LSD-equipped Racing Pumas had a yellow sticker with LSD printed on it attached to their gearbox end plates. This was in addition to a red sticker, which indicated the gearbox was Racing Puma specification.

This is the type that doesn't fit, or certainly doesn't look like it will fit.

Classic PF

I have the same box in my bantam. In my XR3 and s1.

None need inner wings cut to fit.
Maybe do less regurgitating and more trying before you post replys.

the very same box can be moded to 6 speed too. Even that will still fit.

Sorry let me be very specific, if you fit one to a MK4/S2 using standard mounts and gearbox cradle it will hit the inner wing when you corner.... There are ways around this (cutting the inner wing for one), but my point to the OP was that it needs bearing in mind when choosing his box and that it is better to just get one that doesn't have the larger 5th gear assembly in the first place as there are literally thousands to choose from.
