I have fitted a newly built engine after the last melted a piston. all the extra bits such as the turbo, breather system are from the old motor. even the fuel in the tank is around 6 months old. I got some blue smoke on starting which im guessing is the remnants of the oil that ended up everywhere during the mishap, now im getting a whiteish smoke, possibly steam. the oil/water levels are stable so I have a theory. the fuel in the tank (I think its just ran dry while idling as it cut out) was off has managed to hold moisture in the tank and the last bit of fuel left will have been more concentrated with moisture, hence the excess white smoke/vapour. does this sound like a plausable theory. given the weather and the fact the car hasn't yet had a decent run. the car would smoke before on startup about 6 months before it melted but im thinking the piston rings may have been shagged after a quick visual. my initial thought were turbo but im not so sure now. any help will be appreciated, bastard money pit

Give it a run, mine had condensation coming out the tailpipe after been sat in the garage for a couple of months.
