Default St220 lump in mk3/4 escort?

I really fancy this challenge and can't seem to find anywhere or anyone that's done it :-(
Some people might think its stupid idea but I think it'll be a cool car if done right?
If anybody has any info on this conversion please fire away as it would be a massive help. Even if it's the 2.5 mondeo st as there's not much difference between them mounting wise.
Cheers guys

The ST220 engine is a sweet lump but surely in a Escort it will be majorly front end heavy

It wont fit unless you chop the slam panel

And it makes it very front heavy

Guy done it in a mk3 about 10 years ago with the 2.5

It will be nothing like a capri. Fair play for wanting a go but it seems pointless to me.

It was a joke about the Capri lol and I think it'll be fun. What's it like weight wise to an rs2000 lump as there pretty heavy and my cab and hardtop mk4 rs2k were brill cars to drive
It's defo an idea for the near future

Yeah I remember a yellow cabriolet with one in. Had a pretty awful kit etc. I never looked at it closely but was told it looked a bit sketchy.

I've heard that the Duratec V6 only weights about the same as the RS2000 engine as it is alloy but, due to it's layout, the weight position wouldn't be ideal.

I think if you want to do something different, try fitting a 2.0 Duratec. It could be made to fit nicely, is all-alloy so lighter than a Zetec, and really tunable. Could make for a good car with one of them.

be better off with a smaller engine like a 2l zetec the less weight will equate to the same power to weight ratio with a much better handling car. You can concentrate on lowering the engine and tuning it to a point it would be better all round than the 220 lump.
