Coolant boiling!
Any thoughts please?!
My S2 runs at around a constant 102*c, thinking this is about normal (i have a frontmount intercooler with fans fitted on the front of the intercooler) these come on as normal! My doubts and concerns are; when i turn off the engine the coolant bubbles in the system where it is boiling and the level rises in the header tank! I released the cap to release the air and the level dropped, any thoughts as to what could be causing the bubbling/boiling?? Could this be an air lock and would a change and flush of the system sort it?? Thanks for any suggestions

It will be the heat of the turbo causing it to bubble back to the header tank when the coolant isn't circulating. It's normal on a water cooled turbo it's fine. It's also normal for the level in the header tank to rise when the coolant is hot, Although you could always fit an airtec turbo cooler which would help slightly with the cooling of the coolant returning from the turbo.

Another thing is some people report that they see higher running temps when having a intercooler fitted. Mine has the a airtec front mount maybe covers 3/4 of my rad and my temperature sits around the "O" in norm on the gauge, which is around half way
