Default rocker cover gasket, cork or rubber???

hello

apart from finding a leak in the distributor i think also the cork gasket maybe leaking from the front. Its away from the dizzy and high up so i suspect this. It was new on 2 years ago by previous owner and its done 7k miles since my ownership

whats the best gasket to get, i see ford used a cork, but i hear others saying use the rubber. can you all please help me with the best option

many thanks

I found the rubber one completely useless. Each unto their own I think but I've never had a cork one fail.

Rubber one needs a little bit trimming off in places too, they have metal inserts to prevent over torquing just like genuine cork ones.

Genuine Cork for me every time, not a pattern one, if it still leaks then the rocker cover is warped probably

Cork all the way on normal CVH rockers. The only one ive found that works well on rubber is the Rs1600i cover

Probably because your rocker cover was warped as they have a tendancy to do that and the rubber gasket lets you get away with it to a certain extent
