if they dont unscrew there the push fit type and can be very tight

The problem is if you try to unscrew a push on knob you'll knacker it!!

and the new one will need a damn good thump to get back on again - much better with a new one though, my old one - the last pwner must have sat at lights etc twisting it round as it was fairly sloppy on top
