Ok, so it's not the RS Focus forum but what do we think people?

Me, I quite like the look of it, such as you can see from the teaser photos.

I am tempted to retire the Cossie from daily duty in favour of this new thing. Not sure what I'd do with it then though.

Some articles say its driven at all wheels and some say only at the front wheels. A bit confusing to me..

But to get a RS back in production of course is

It will be 4 x 4 and wait till you see what the sporty mondeo will have ( if all goes to plan then that will be 4 x 4 and have a v6 twin turbo running 350 bhp + as standard

tempted but I'm not putting a deposit down until I know the spec. you know what these things are like once Mr EU noise and pollution regulator gets his hands on it we'll have a front wheel drive 260hp piss weak focus that weighs nine tonnes due to its 64 air bags

I'll hold fire and see what uncle henry commits to

Oh man. We're getting so hosed in Canada, again. Ford Canada is releasing their new focus for 08 and it looks like this:

compared to this:

I'm packing my bags and moving to Europe, not just for the cars, but for the ladies

I'm just back home from Florida (USA), and I made a visit to a Ford dealer in Miami, and saw this focus

The other side is, the fuel is SOOOOOOO cheap there...that's not fair

It doesn't matter how cheap fuel is here, nobody's going to want to use it in our focus. It sucks there's hardly anything worth driving around here as far as ford cars goes. That's why I'm importing an escos.

I've driven a Jeep commander for those 3weeks, that's the worst thing i've driven all my life

The old focus looks quite the same as in Europe, I only think that the build quality is not the same

The jeep is still a truck with a pair of live axles to add to the "wonderful ride quality. The focus we get here in Canada isn't build bad at all. The problem with it, is that it's an econobox. Cheap, efficient, and used to get to from a to b. There's no performance here from ford because they're tight wads and afraid it'll take away sales from the mustang if they introduce something like that into the north american market. Well I didn't buy a mustang and I want a fast ford.

I don't know if this link has been posted yet http://www.leftlanenews.com/spied-ford-focus-rs.html

Ford is working on a top-secret new Focus RS, and is likely to choose next year’s London motor show for the car’s grand unveiling.

Buoyed by storming market demand for the Focus ST — which in its first year sold twice as well as its deadly rival, the VW Golf GTi in the UK — Ford believes it has created market space for a faster, edgier, 30 per cent more powerful Focus whose near-supercar performance and rally-car looks can both take advantage of last year’s win in the World Rally Championship and recall the heady days of the Escort RS Cosworth.

The new car, powered by a 280bhp turbocharged version of Ford’s five-cylinder engine, retains two-wheel drive but will use a special semi-active limited-slip diff to improve traction and on-limit handling. It has standard 19-inch wheels, special springs, dampers and anti-roll bars, and rides a little lower than the already-lowered Focus ST, which keeps its status as Ford’s bigger-selling, more versatile sporty saloon. Like the ST, the RS uses a six-speed stick-shift transmission. Total production is forecast at between 5000 and 10,000 units before the next Focus arrives.

Ford’s performance cars boss, Jost Capito, won’t confirm the car’s existence, on the grounds that it’s not yet in the company’s official plan, though he refuses to condemn the concept. “We are always pushing for cars like this,” he said, “but it is difficult because we have limited funds to spend on sporty cars. However, we would obviously like to build cars like this one.”

Designers want to avoid over-decorating the new RS, but the car is nevertheless believed to have a deeper front bumper with rally-style brake and turbo air scoops, plus a rear roof spoiler design influenced by the WRC cars. Flared wheel arches won’t be on the agenda as they were in the previous Focus RS; they’re deemed too expensive for such a low-volume model. Instead, the RS will use distinctive interior materials and badges to emphasise its special status.

It is perhaps a surprise that the new RS retains front-wheel drive when Ford has access to various Volvo and Land Rover 4x4 systems that might have been adapted. But retaining two-wheel drive saves money: Ford plans to have the RS on the market at the impressively low price of Ł21,000 to Ł23,000, only about Ł3500 ahead of the ST entry price. The project is believed to need around 18 months to complete, so production cars should be ready by June 2009.
