How can i check if my ECU from my T25 escos is original?

And what are the best chips for tuning? Easy to install? Or got anyone a chip for me?

Thnx

What do you mean by 'original'; the ecu that came with the car when it was first sold or just the right ecu for the car?

The standard ecu will be an eec-iv, with the catch code COSY, QUIK, CARD, ANTI, or TCA5. I've no idea how they relate to the chassis though.

If you mean unchipped/ standard them remove the passenger side kickpanel and have a look on the top of the ECU, if its chipped there will be a chip module plugged into the top of the ECU and it will be either taped into place or cable tied on. If the car is STD then this wont be present..........hth

to be honest, any stage 1 chip from a reputable tuner is going to give you similar power upto 280BHP (approximately) BUT remember, a chip upgrade is only as good as how the car is setup/ mapped. Small turbo escos's are limited in what they can produce power wise with their management system (EECIV) and their small turbo.

Hope that helps.

I knew that

I've heard that Superchips are not so good for the T25?

Who else got chips for the T25?

And what price?

Regarding the Superchip, you may want to ask them how they raise the boost limit in their chip and see if you think it's the right way to chip a Cosworth.

Cossymad saw 303bhp on his EEC4 Escort Cosworth.
Chip was a non-limited chip (no boost or rev limiter). Car made 298lbft. I think he supplies same spec chips for Ł300 odd.

i have a collins powerchip in mine.....goes well to say the least. I have in place some good modifications to get the best out of the car.....i have a small turbo T25 hybrid with large K&N cone filter, mongoose exhaust, uprated fuel pump and a 60mm rs500 intercooler.

I Would like to get it rolling roaded to see what its actually got but dont like the thought of somebody thrashing my car to bits.....maybe rolling roads arent like this and im wrong ????? If so which ones are good and close to Crewe??

As my chips a Collins 305 does this mean ive got that as BHP figure????

thanks
martin

i have got the ggr 305 bhp chip with
piper fast road cams
hybrid turbo
ggr cone filter
mongoose exhaust
turbosmart boost controller
power boost valve
bosch motorsport fuel pump
large turbo intercooler with the pace chargecooler upgrade

Its running 1.4bar of boost and it only made 275.1bhp and 267lft torque on allen jefferys rolling road in plymouth it does feel alot quiker than my old 2wd saff which was running 270 bhp though i thought it would have made a bit closer 300 with the mods carried out
