If you are on about the RS16i touring cars, ( which i presume as you are posting in here you are ) then i know my one, which was longman prepared, and the datapost cars never had an ECU
All they had was a tried a tested system, dizzy, coil etc, like the base model escorts of the time.
The cold start valve was operated by a seperate switch, the same as the fuel pump.
as it used a dizzy there was no need for the flywheel sensor either, or half the other electronics, no warm up regulater etc etc.

i thought the motorsport Rsis used different ecu and different coils and were about 150 to 160 bhp??? it wasd always said that the Rsi was capable of more power but wasnt it due to the laws as it was built in Germany??? i went to look at a white rsi a few years ago and the chap had a black one when it was two years old and he said that he tried to buy motorsport coils and ecu from a show but they fetched a large amount of money,,, i might be wrong????
