    No that has nothing to do with it, VSS is located on the gearbox the input from this is also used by the ECU, hence why it causes running problems as well.

    The way to test if it's working is to coast slowly in neutral WITH the clutch released at which point the revs should raise slightly and drop when stationary.

    alrite mate where is the vss sensor located. Take it its in box somewhere. I expected the speedo to be picked up through the abs

    Crankshaft Position Sensor, is is located by the crankshaft pully and works on a hall effect principle and measures the speed of the engine, the ECU uses this information that provides the spark at the plugs amongst other things.

    Are your leads and spark plugs in good condition?
