I can see why to be fair. I always find the GTR hugely capable and mentally fast, but really lacking a bit of a soul.

Thing with the GTR is yes its an animal, yes its extremely fast.. downsides are its really bulky and it feels like everything is done for you. theres no real effort involved.

Absolutely love mine! Handles great, M dynamic mode allows you to drift and look good at it Yea it has a lack of torque but it has 8900 revs, sounds fantastic.
I had a play with a 335D from 30-70, I wont lie, he did pull a car lengh maybe more on me, but once at 70 he pulled in, wether that's because i'd have passed him at higher speed or wether his missus was a bad passenger I don't know...
the M3's and D's are both very different cars, I don't like how every D driver compares their's to the M, you can't really compare them, but you never see an M driver compare theres to a D? what does that tell you...

I dont see me selling mine any time soon, I don't know what i'd get next to rival or top it, as A: I can't afford 65K on an F8X M3/4 (having driven both on a regular basis I wouldn't buy one anyway) and B: I never get tired of driving it!

you can't compare the d to m, different places to be in and different for driver experience.
just a shame a diesel isn't more responsive as you'd have a hard time to justify the petrol performance models otherwise.
