I have just bought my first van - r reg escort 1.8 d 55. Did usual checks but missed the dashboard lights not working -does anyone have any ideas on this please?

 

Check the feed and earth, one of which is most likely missing assuming the lights are working. I presume here you are talking about dash illumination opposed to warning lights.

yeah it is the dash illumination, where do i need to look for feed and earth? currently it has a cig lighter on /off switch set up - all very dodgy as kept in glove box..... ok ok it was the only thing i didn't spot but who would in bright sunshine!!
