2wd cossie very quick to raise temperature hand in traffic or if sitting, have recently fitted anti lag and 82degrees thermostat, car is otherwise running perfectly with no issues, pulling really well. Any ideas? Anyone ran fan direct to a switch? Cheers

 

Maybe cossie paranoia ?
The 82C stat does NOTHING to protect the engine from overheating by the way, it just delays it slightly but won't prevent it.
It should be able to sit in traffic all day idling, with the fan cycling on and off.
Have you rewired your fans ?, if not do so now before a engine melt down caused by the wiring/relay/fuse, do your fans work ?
The std fans are more than able to bring the temps down on a cossie in traffic, I regularly do 4-5 hours in traffic, fan comes on at 95C and off at 92C, heat of this nature does not kill head gaskets, indeed many engines run over 100C anyway.
Maybe fit a fan light(led) so you can see the fan when if is on and goes off, to reassure you ?
If the engine, cooling system is up to scratch then it won't be any bother, they do heat up fairly quick but so long as fan cycles on and off it is ok.
I found when using the original intercooler and the air deflector between it and the rad that it took a massive amount of time to cool down after getting hot, the deflector obviously preventing the hot air from rising from the rad, on my car it literally could take 5-6 miles of 40 mph to take the fans off after traffic work, taking the deflector plate out dropped this to under 1 mile at 40 mph.

Thanks for reply. Paranoia may well be what it is. Fans cut in and cut off as abd when expected. Cars been off the road for 4 months just seems its rising the temp hand quicker than it did and to a higher point than it didm as you say may just be me being paranoid. Thanks

 

Actually sounds to me more like the dash gauge is wrong as usual and casing you unwarranted concern mate.

 

Hopefully that's all it is as like I said engine is running perfect and pulling better than ever after a recent setup. On normal driving it sits a fraction below halfway, but aoon after stopping or hard driving it doesn't take long to rise up into the m of the norm.

I put a little blue led in the top left hand corner of my rev counter that comes on with the fans, when they come on at 95C, the gauge can vary wildly reading wise, from bottom edge of M, to halfway through the N.
