after about a couple of days of buying my cossie my steering felt alot stiffer than normal and it started to feel notchy(hard to drive),i have put a second hand pump on it and fluid ,but no better i then put the original pump back on and new belt ,this made it better still quite stiff but not notchy(ok to drive)driving home from work the other day it started to feel even stiffer than it was (quite dangerous)by the time i got home i could hardly turn it,i waited till it had gone cold and tried it and no different i have tried it since and it works sometimes but still goes hard sometimes,but there is no notchy feeling in it,been in the my garage for a week dont know what to do ,could i need a new rack?

 

sounds like it needs a rack get the front in the air and turn the wheel to see how it feels

Ive had this before, turned out to be a UJ in the column,
