can some one shed a ray of light on this question please,
the previous owner of my mondeo never renewed the battery in the door key, not sure how long this had elapsed but the doors will only lock manually. I have been told that if I renew the battery the car will still not lock, as the the car has to be reprogramed by a ford dealer. Is this the case or can I get around it somehow, I have a spare red igniotion key that came with it, any advise please

Hi,i had the same problem although with my subaru impreza.my battery went in the key fob and it wouldn't lock the doors and it prevented me starting the car.I took the old battery out then replaced it but unknown to me as i left the battery out too long the key needed to be re-programmed to match my immobilizer.Hope this helps and good luck.
i know the 51 plate mondeo withthe three buttons on the key u can code from the car yourself all u do is turn the key on and off three times until u hear a bip then press unlock or lock m8 thats it done loads but odd one u need the all seatbelts pulged in hope this helps
