Default Focus Idle Valve?

hi there i have a 1.8 zetec focus 1999 and wheni rev the engine the revs drop to 1500 then drop to 1000 like its sticking iv already checked the cable and body when rev it with my hand beside the tb it does the same thing is it the idle control valve?

Any misfiring? go ahead and clean the ICV and MAF sensor. Use electrical contact spray on MAF though and don't touch it. These would be the cheapest things to try first. Let me know if you need diagrams.

hi there thanks for the reply iv already bought a new icv from ebay for £25 but i will try to clean maf first and see what happens doesnt misfire. can i start up the enigne without maf for a sec to see if it is the problem?

Yep, you will hear a difference in revs etc if it's faulty. Ford will tell you to spend £40 or so on a new MAF. They are fine with a good cleaning though. Might be an idea also to check for vaccum leaks from hose going to airbox. This can cause idle probs too.

hi there i the rev problem went away wen the car warmed up but wen i accelerate fast and change gear the throttle sticks like takes a while do come down in revs wen i push in the clutch only wen accelerating fast any ideas maf this time??
