i believe the main problem is that the 24v Cosworth BOA and BOB engines were only ever fitted with an auto box

from experience, the BOB engine goes like a rocket, but the wiring is made from cheese causing all manner of electrical gremlins, especially with the autobox which will change gear whenever it feels like it, then blow up.

you can fit a manual gearbox, either a MT75 or a type 9 i think, but you have to get a flywheel made up for it.

engine mounts shouldn't be a major problem i think as its basically an altered 2.9 cologne block

these two sites have a wealth of info on them:

using the boa bob enine is simple with the right bits. if your going for power then the type 9 gearbox wont last. howeer to use the mt75 correctly you need to make a hybrid box ffrom thr 2wd and 4wd boxes in order to get the right input shaft length. the flywheel from the 2.8i cologne engine can be adapted and is lighter than the cosworth one.

no easy solution for the wiring though... caprisport do alot of the parts for this engine conersion...

you can use the t5 box too, if going rwd!?

the engine bed can be used from a v6 sierra aswell as the exhaust manifold with a bit of a butchery

i think thats right

its easy tbh m8.
. the 24v has the same mounts as the 12v, pinto, Yb etc.
4x4 is not a problem either. the easyest thing to do is buy an xr4x4 as a donor car and use the interior, powersteering rack, mt75 gearbox+ v6 bell housing brakes etc and then u can weld the independant rear suspension on, which from experience makes a massive improvement. the front end of the p100 is the same as any other sierra.
u want a BOA, the BOB wiring is more complicated, BOA looks better, sounds better, and it starts as a better base for modification.

Hi guys
I'm a bit new to thi s so bear with me !!
I've recently bought a p100 cozy convo with t5 box , all looks good and engin has only done 19 k but hasn't run in 5 years !!
I've upgraded the fuel reg and pump and fitted a modified Scorpio loom that was supplied by top boss performance.
I'm not a mechanic by any means and as much as I know my way around a ford I think I've bit off a bit more than I can chew with this one .! At this point in just looks for some dos and don'ts or anything I should check before I try to fire it ..... This engine is a piece of art to be honest and I'm scared to hurt it so any advice would be appreciated!
Thanks

Hi
Thanks for the input guys , starting to get somewhere now !! Got the engine ticking over ( roughly ) so al least I know it's a runner !! It's out just now getting a full custom s/s exhaust fitted and should have it back early next week ! Gona get the brakes and steering sorted then give it a good thrashing before I strip the lot out again and get it painted !!
Some pics of my progress so far !
