Check rev's should be

Hi, Hubbie has a Ford Focus TDI sport 1.8. When I drive it, to me it feels as though revs are low (just under 1) so when sitting in queues botherin me. My Ford Focus Zetec 1.8 is at approx 1.5. Are these right for the cars, both on late 53 plates. Many thanks

i take it your talking about the idle speed??

the diesels have very low cold idle in my opinion but both petrol and diesel should idle at arount 800 - 900 rpm when warm.

to me it sounds like your petrol focus will fail its next mot and not be very nice to drive. it probably just needs a new idle speed control valve but could also be vss or tps depending on symptoms.
