Default Custom Big End Shells

Right all, I have a 1.7 VCT Zetec SE engine, found in the Ford Puma

Only problem Is I cannot find big end shells for the 1.7!

I have tried the likes or Burton power, and even Ford Parts Direct, still no joy!

So, my only chance might be having custom shells made, if possible

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance

It's highly likely they are identical to other engines, they won't make a shell different just for the sake of it, or some could be modded to fit possibly.
But in the worst case yes you can have white metal bearings made, not cheap though.

1.6 shells are in plentiful supply however the Crank Journals are a smaller diameter in the 1.7

I may try but fairly confident they wont fit

is this a similiar engine to the 1.6 zetec s one? I remember a mechanic locally saying the big ends went on a car he was fixing and he wasnt able to get new bearings as ford saif the bottom end is disposable after the bearings are knackered as aparantely the shells were several different sizes and they just used differnt ones instead of machining the them all to the same size. I dunno how true this is or not so dont shout at me.

Second hand engine was the cheapest way for that car.

Default 1.7 big end bearings

i, i know this thread is a few months old, but if you dont have the big end bearings yet, i can put you in touch with a company that sells them, just pm me if you want the details. Ive searched high and low for them, as they are real hard to get hold of, and even puma speed cant get hold of them.
