I have searched the forum etc and found info but starting to lose my mind over it. My head on my 2wd cossi project is 138.15mm. The bottom end has been rebuilt and is on standard pistons etc. Can i get away with running the head using a thick head gasket or do i need a decomp plate and how thick should i get one?

"officially", I think it is 139.5mm, measured from the head face to the cam cover face on the head.
Loads have been used past this without problem though, but might need timing tweaking due to raised CR

138.68mm is the min thickness for the 2wd head, its very close but if your running standard and not planing to tweek her up to much then go ahead and just use a thicker head gasket for piece of mind

The head will be fine with no tweaking required, the min thickness is fords min thickness, assuming cars are coming into ford workshops for repair.
BACK TO THE REAL WORLD, carbon is going to build up on pistons so giving less head/piston clearance than when new, so it will be fine.

I didn't realise it was you!!
Yes just PM me if needed, taking my engine out soon, to rebore etc, as rings are not that good, still loads of power, and loads of oil use, a LOT faster than when you went in it, as running different set up now!!

No didn't get it mapped, a certain supplier supplied two different chips, both of which just would not work in my car.
I went to a RR and used thier chip and it cleaned up instantly, drives 95% correct, after adjusting TPS to read higher, at cold idle develops so much boost wastegate was cracking open and shut, because tps said engine was was idle.
I am going Emerald next week, so if looking for ECU or chips, I have stage1 GGR, stage 3 EA both with printouts.
I would get Darren(damico, e.harling) to de shroud the head first before fitting if I were you, £275, best money you will ever spend, the torque comes in a LOT earlier and a LOT harder, but the best bit is the way it holds on, mine holds max torque 330lbft past 6500rpm, from 2200rpm, just doesn't tail off, awsome to drive now.

Will keep a note of that. What my plans were is going to get the cossie running as it is at the mo. Then find a better head with more meat on it as the bottom end is all new! Then i can fettle the heat etc and go for more power. I think thats a sensible plan lol
I do still need an ECU and chip, either standard or stage 1 .

Give it a couple of months and mine will be for sale, I'll drop off a printout so you can see how good the chip is, should be at £300 a chip!!
