Default head work is there much point?

on a 1.6 silver top zetec.

i heard the heads are really restrictive. so i though porting is the best thing to do. (dont want engine swap)

so, are the benefits of porting a 1.6 head worth the gains? will it make much difference, and a noticeable difference?

thanks.

110???? thats pants mine already running 116.3.

had it dynoed for free a few months back. was just chatting to a guy at castle combe that has a black evo, and they had a dyno machine on the back of the lorry, i was speaking to him about it to find out how they actually work, and he let me put my escort on there.

probably to take the piss, he asked what they usually run and i said 88bhp as thats what i thought they usually are standard, and it turned out at 116.3.

so i was happy with that.

nothing really, air filter, stainless exhaust, (not manifold) was using 99 octane, as always do, and have super 4 plugs with silicone ht leads.

erm, cant really think of anything else that i have done to alter performance.

yeah it was mobile, but im sure it was fairly reliable as it was running a 670 bhp evo on it and the figures matched roughly at the place where they usually dyno it.

im not going to sat they dyno is shit cause my mate has a 1.6 too and mines much faster, mabye its cause his is burgandy.

cams and remap can see 150bhp with that engine, (the same as a fiesta zetec-s?) and if you have the money stick some throttle bodies on

why dont you want to swap the engines

a 1.8 or 2.0 litre zetec would be a direct fit and be so much better starting point imo

its a lot of hassle, and i dont have the kit to do it. plus you have to tell the insurance and it will cost more.

and taking the head off, sending it away to be worked and rebuilt by somebody isnt a lot of hassle and expense? not to mention the fact that you would also need a remap to adjust fueling etc and technically you should inform your insurance company about it.
