my temp gauge has stopped working on my 2wd saff, what should i test or look at to find the problem.

 

Look to see if the end of the connector has snapped of by the turbo, front of head above alternator, this often happens.
You can test the guage by switching ignition on and earthing out the wire when it should read FULL RANGE ie super dooper hot.

when i turn the ignition on the needle moves a tiny bit (nowhere near the scale) but i have tried earthing the wire which yes the end has snapped off but still nothing.

This wire has most likely got a break in it, take out clocks, and do a continuity test between engine end of this wire and the end at the clocks.
