as long as the ecu is is apre 90 spec s2 model there is no difference so bassicly as long as its a series 2 ecu going to another series 2 no problem

With the exception of the very early S2's which don't have a knock sensor or the secondary CTS.........

i have noticed an extra sensor on my new engine that was not on the old one the ecu came from the same car
safe chav: its coming off the air bypass valve and i think it is a cylinder head temp senor but aint sure. i have however seen the sensor on my loom but it is tied bak and was not used on my old engine. do i have to change the loom????

Just check to see if you have a knock sensor on your inlet manifold, if you do it will be fine

i take it the knock sensor is the green one on the right hand side of the inlet manifold, if so then yes i have one. so you think it will be fine then???? also that extra sensor that i have on my new engine (the white one coming off the bypass valve) shall i connect it when i fit the engine. Like i said there always was a dissconnected sensor in my engine bay and that is the one for the sensor i found on the new engine that was not on my old one. I hope that makes sense.
thanks alot

The sensor you are talking about is on top of the auxiliary air device, and has the same shape plug as the IAT sensor and fan switch yeah?

Probably had an engine change in its life and the engine put in was an earlier one without it, connect it if you have it now.

And, yes, the ecu will be fine
