“Next power upgrade will be hybrid turbo, upgraded injectors, that can’t happen until the Mtx75 goes in Unless there’s a better option of gearbox upgrade“

Are you still on a standard box now?

Had a spare hour tonight, so decided it was time to sort some 90’s spec Recaro Ghia rear headrests
Ive had a spare pair sat in a parts box on the garage floor for over a year at least now
Easy enough job, put the Orion headrest frame in the Recaro foam/ material

Due to the rain today we didn’t go to Oulton Parks GoldCup, instead pulled the gearbox cradle off to have ago at helicoiling one of the front gearbox mount holes
Once off found 2 out of 3 no good so hopefully this is my tapping on and off throttle
Top hole threads have gone
Middle hole is errrrm buggered, needs abit welding back in when it comes out I suppose
So for now we’ve just helicoil’d the top hole and crossed fingers, 2 out of 3 is better than 1 out of 3

Dont seem to be many Mtx75 box conversions with a silvertop so just gonna have to suck it and see I think...
Not much choice, the Cts stage 2 won’t carry on forever, and is definitely the weak point now...
I wanna go hybrid, more boost and bigger injectors next

Dunno why the uploader ain’t working?
It's a lot of fucking about. Partly wish I hadn't bothered. Just debating pulling mine to bits again this winter.

No info yet but the Mk2 starter motor location would mean changing exhaust manifold again and moving the turbo over the box
Mk1 box moves the starter round the back

I think it’s time...
Something I’ve put off for years, I don’t enjoy pulling anything apart that is working
But needs must for reliability and to future proof the Orion for more bhp increases

The angle of the engine, silvertop sits straight, blacktop is tilted
So fitted to a silvertop the diff housing will hang lower to the ground...
I’ve gotta try it though...
Being on 17’s has gotta help me with ground clearance

Hopefully reworking the rear mount prior to dismantling. I'm convinced the diff bearings are whining so that would be a reason to dismantle. If it's in bits I will add the correct Speedo pick up inside the gearbox as this isn't fitted. So then my Speedo can be sorted out with the controller my pal has built to operate the standard speedo.

It definitely is a massive ball ache! I still havent driven mine...still havent got it started

Do you have details of speedo drive? I need something, might just use a cheap GPS speedo for now

Bassboy. Basically my mate has built a box which houses a motor and a raspberry pi computer which takes the output from the speed sensor and then controls the motor which turns the speedo cable. It's fully calibratable. I just need a speedo cable making that is a bit shorter so I can house the box if tricks where a Rs turbo ecu would have lived.

The reason i asked is beacuse i fitted a mtx75 box in my mk3 zt escort with a silvertop without a problem it was a pretty easy to be hones. iv had no ground clearance issues and im lowered 30mm with 15" wheels, also all i done to sort the speedo issue was to swap the bell housing from the electric speedo type to the mechanical type then the original escort speedo cable fits onto the box.
