I've also started to take parts of the interior out, and clean behind them. I think I'm going to take the seats and everything out soon, and do my best.
So a little update today, I tried to take the rear bumper off my car, as I want to get the fit a lot better on one side. But the first bolt I went to undo, snapped. So I'm going to get some new bolts, and remove it knowing I can replace them all. Whilst underneath my car I noticed a tiny little bit of surface rust along the edge of the join near the rear of the car, so I brushed off the worst, and went over it with some Kurust. Once I get the rear bumper off I will give it a serious clean. Oh and I also took my car to Top Gear in Bridport, and had them make me a custom cat back exhaust. It sounds a lot nicer, and the car seems to run a lot better now. I've had the diameter made slightly bigger as I plan on swapping the engine at some point.
It's not meant to look pretty, as I want the complete underside treated properly at some point soon.
Here's a few snaps of my exhaust. Also I want to replace or upgrade all of the suspension linkages and arms, any ideas as to where I could buy these from (or have them made).
A long over due update, well I've been working really had, both with my day job, and with researching parts for the Carina E. I think I'm going to go with B.C racing coilovers, along with some other suspension arms etc. I've not moved any further forward with up rating the brakes, and having rear discs fitted, but I think that will happen after the wheels are sourced. I'm still using the car as my daily, and still enjoying every moment of it. Today I gave her the first was since I did my initial detail, and it's still looking great. The Carina also turned 24 years old on the 13th of June, and it still turns heads.
Here's a photo from today, with me giving her a quick wash.
So after another 10 1/2 hour day I set about fitting the front one, and this is a custom idea of my own.
Basically the BTCC cars back in 94 had the word Carina E in the window, but only the E used the correct font from the sales brochure used by Toyota. Having spoken with people within the original team, it was a simple system back then, and they didn't have the correct font to do the actual letters used, so I had one custom made.
I've had a few stickers designed for the roof of my car, to mimic the 1994 Castrol B.T.C.C sponsored car Julian Bailey raced, whilst I stood track side.
This is the roof sticker I had done, I provided the template and design, and the specialist tweaked it for me.
As some of you may have spotted, there is a tiny mistake, and the specialist is providing me with the correctly coloured part.
I know the car sits really high, and the brakes look terrible, but these are all being looked into.
It needs the brake lines doing, and although the discs and pads etc are all good, I want to fit bigger ones, and convert the rear drums to discs, so I'm still trying to find some rear hubs etc.
But the car drives really well on the tyres, and I'm feeling how much grip they offer in the wet.
