It's not just 3 doors, how about a Ł50k saph

You're right about the values James, it's just gone mad.
I'll never be able to afford to get into a 3dr now.
I used to have an integrale 12-15yrs ago now, and in the last 5yrs the values have rocketed even for the very average 8v.
We've seen e30 M3s do the same of course, and now even Sunny/Pulsar GTIR's have doubled in the last few years. It wasn't long ago a Ł10k car was Ł5k.

I'm not sure if it's just the halo effect of the gpA homologation cars helping things along, but 3drs have outstripped everything in that regard, even the M3's. The RS's are very much a rich man's scene these days, and comparatively few of the original enthusiasts remain, but I doff my cap to those that have hung in there and now are sitting on a gold mine. However I pity you if you have to find spares at reasonable cost because those days are over now for sure.

I just can't get my head my 'round 'why'? Is a 3dr RS really worth 3-4x as much as nicely sorted (and appreciating) e46 M3?

Perhaps new cars aren't scratching the itch any more, but no-ones using them as daily drivers. These dealer prices are creating a panic though, where a Ł40k car looks like a bargain next to a Ł60k car..

ian its pure greedy greedy dealers .they are piggybacking the love ,care, and money that all us enthusiasts put into our cars over the years keeping them in tip top condition.
they write a big add with some nice pictures telling us all what we already know about our cossies trying to spoof the unsuspecting first time buyer with their spiel .they then take the money and badger people into selling their cars to them so they can profit once again.
parts are getting very scarce now unfortunatley.

i dont think there will ever be cars with such iconic status as the cosworths, integrales,ur quattros etc.only the limited run cars for homolagtion into grpa will have this status along with supercars

of course if your a dealer who cant find a nice 3dr you bang a huge price on a saff lol

you would need to be mad or a real diehard fan to pay that sort of cash for that. the driving experience isn't that special compared to the sort of more modern machinery you could by for the same price!

The driving experience will probably not matter as who ever buys it will have it trailered to shows or it will just be stored away for a future investment! If its driven it may get dirty underneath and also crime of crime add some miles to it!!!!

Not sure if you are just taking the piss or you are serious? If you are the owner of 2 low mileage Saffs and you are proud of the fact that they will never get driven what have you got them for? 2 museum exhibits or purely investments?

no they are 3drs mate

and no im not proud i havent driven them ,but it dont bother me .when i bought them it wasnt for investment reasons as they werent investments at the time.

i have a saff which i much prefer ,but is mid build at the minute .

to me there is nothing wrong with not using a car,its often easier to just look at them

Hi Adam,

Hope you’re well buddy?? Yes the 22B is obviously and I think Type Rs will rise over the 4 door like mine more. However, they only made 2000 units of the car I own mine being 1557/2000 so a very rare car indeed, also bring the RA it has no ABS etc so very very raw.

It’s an imported car and has ZERO rust / rot anywhere, the underside is like concourse, amazing how Japanese cars are so bloody clean compared to ours Mind you they don’t get the grit, salt etc we do

I am in the process of helping my Son get his 2000 WRX STI back on the road. Done lots of upgrades and hoping for around 370bhp . It is an imported one which has now got a later 6 speed gearbox, coilovers, AP big brake conversion, front mounted large intercooler, 18inch Prodrive alloys etc etc.

It has a special order leather seats as well.

I'm seriously considering selling my Sapp at the minute. Haven't driven it for 6 months

It'd finish a few things round the house and fund some toys for the new hobby.

That’s why they need mapping Adam for UK fuel, pretty much bullet proof then. Mine I’ve put on Simtek ECU, ALS, coil overs bla bla, 5 grand later you’re up to 120 mph in a flash, did a 12.2 quarter in it @ 114 mph terminal so not too bad

They are coming back to the age of being able to enter rallies again, so the prices will probably go up more
