UPDATE TIME!!
Dustless blasters came this morning, five hour journey for them, three hours later they were off.
Its amazing how easily it strips the shit away, uncovered a bit more rust but nothing critical, they even said how nice the shell is, compared to what they are used to!
once blasted, phosphoric acid was brush applied, allowed to dry, before zinc primer was applied. going to leave it a couple of days to properly take before washing the shell out, and assess the bits that need cutting out!
had a tidy up while i had some space!
And back in the unit! I have some videos of it being stripped, il upload them to youtube and share on here later

on close inspection we found my 200 block to be cracked in two places, luckily a mate spotted this beaut on fb and snapped it up, 6 hours to brum and back and it was down to my engine builders! gone standard compression, standard mahle pistons and rings, full engine spec to be listed at a later date, as im still buying bits!
with the welding complete ( very little was needed tbh) next up was stone chip and paint to the underside.
what a finish! so nice putting parts on a car thats clean! Ahem, you may notice the machine in the far corner. remember the blaster? well i was so impressed, i bought it! PM for details...

while in for paint, i decided to get the engine bay resprayed. looking spotless
getting the running gear on
while in the shop i had a good clean up!
this is it for now, although i do have the rear complete and rolling. Took the front set up to the powdercoaters and should be fitting it at the weekend, once rolling, its back into the paint shop, for body paint! going for a jewel violet, my favourite colour and should stand out at the shows nicely!!!

I got my rack from Kelly bray steering I think it’s called. Found them on eBay. You can buy a complete rack or send yours in for a refurb. Mines been on for a while now and all seems very good.

Update time...
The 924 had to go, too many projects and all that, lets concentrate on the proper classic shall we!
The shell is due to go into paint next week for a full respray, ive also got a few spare bumpers to paint, and even a spare boot lid with a Rouse spoiler I am toying with fitting. While the shells out of the way I plan on having a mass reshuffle in the unit, i'm going to organise the loom etc so i am ready to get stuck in upon the shells return, hoping to be back on the road asap so i can get to some shows.
THE ENGINE CAME BACK!
and its looking lovely! just a few bits to have zinc plated, change the leads for black i think also
THE TURBO ARRIVED!
and it looks mint! so excited to get this beast back together now!
here is a list of works on the engine, turbo and gearbox, its cost about the same amount as what i purchased the car for!
just sitting there waiting to be fitted
turbo porn!
will be buying a new -31 actuator I think
note the cut back blades on the exhaust side
A pic of the block, as how often do you get to see a never used 200 block in all its splendor
a pic that came up in my Facebook memories not long ago. this was the day i bought the car
how it looked before i decided to fully restore it, originally only planning on freshening up the engine bay, turned into a slightly bigger job!!
And i'll finish with this pic of my boy sitting on the saph at Beaulieu with the Kent RS Owners Club. Two years ago now, I will take this pic again once the cars done

Well, its been a while, how about an update!🤣
Alot has happened in the last two years, I had pneumonia and septicemia which almost killed me, I recovered, then got divorced which was even harder to deal with, but got through that. Then I had my work truck nicked along with all of my tools! And that's without the cosworth issues!! So here goes, the cossie.
So, we put the old girl back together and got her running, ready for mot, which passed with flying colours but, when it was up in the air I spotted a drip of water coming from behind the head. So of with the head to inspect, and we found that it had not only had zero work dont to it (despite the engine builder being adamant I was lying) I think you can see from the pics it hadn't been cleaned. I pushed a screwdriver through the alloy, and out came loads of gunky rad weld! Tried to get it welded back up but came to the conclusion that I needed to source a new head. So I searched. And searched, and then just as I was about to bite the bullet and buy one new from Burton, one came up on facebook, brand new, made in 2012, authentic made by cosworth head! So I bought that up right away. It was a bare head so I had a little machine work done porting and polishing in all the right places, and swapped everything over from the old head, replacing everything I needed to. Head back on the block, cams timed in, and all back together! I've since run her in, and now all thats needed is a re map and a polish up! Celebrated today by going to ford power live at brands and had a great day out. Here are some pics below

I have loads of other pics on my other phone which I'll upload at some point. I failed to mention that I've also moved house four times in the last two years so it really has been a busy two years hence why this project pretty much got shelved. But finally shes there! And I'm so pleased with i might even keep it now haha

had some fun during the build process, getting my fat arse stuck in the footwell when doing the wiring here
interior back in
back seats still look new
even the drivers seat is in great nick for its age
coming along nicely
right this is the 1st pic after i discovered water dripping from the back of the head. bare in mind id only driven less than 2 miles to the mot station and back. see all the rad weld shit on the gasket, this was the first sign something wasnt right
this is what came out of the hole in the head! literally was like pushing through a layer of tin foil
nasty stuff
some of the heads contents i raked out with a screwdriver
how wide it went before id seen enough
old gaskets put back on by engine builder, you can tell the head was never cleaned out just from the state of the exhaust outlets. also, see the welds underneath them if you zoom in. so yeah, one scrap head. luckily i found another one as mentioned above. head porn incoming....

here we are, brand new, never used authentic 2wd yb head, found of facebook of all places! i sent the serial numbers to cosworth and they confirmed that it was manufactured back in 2008 and shipped to the states. the bloke i brought it off gave me his purchase history, he bought it in 2012 for a project that never went ahead so he shelved it. he paid 5k including shipping and tax for it! I paid 2k
back on the block
bought new zinc plated cam nuts as the old ones looked naff
