The engine used in the Golf R can see 600+ on standard internals, the Mk3 Focus can't even handle standard power

a close friend up the road from me is now on his 3rd engine , he does regret selling his mk2 rs500 but is in too deep to give up no matter how much we tell to get rid, and another local to me has had his car taken in twice for serious faults and have to agree with Jimmy on his opinion on the mk3 as its spot on

i'd have thrown the keys back at ford after the second engine popped and asked for a refund as the car isn't fit for purpose,

realistically who would gamble on one of these cars either new or second hand when ford can't seem to sort the problem,

and if i'm being honest, i don't understand why the rsoc are banning people and grovelling to a company that can't get their act together

I have heard that a few members have been sent letters from the committee asking them to explain their comments on the Facebook page as they've brought the club into disrepute lol

They’re running it like a large company rather than a car club

I don't want to mention the names I've heard but if the rumour is true they're all 20+ year members.

Glad I never joined that is a joke.

Never been a fan of anything after the mk1 focus, I found everyone I knew that had one or used one for work found out they kept getting run into by people either parking or not paying attention to them.

I love old fords and if I could i'd get another but I think the only new ford i'd be inclined to get is a mustang. I liked the one I took from Florida to Key west recently and grew to look past the couple of minor issues I had when I first started to drive it. Was a comfortable ride, decent power and was well specced for a hire car. Definitely a step up interior wise to the 2014 mustang I had in Charlotte North Carolina, that was a convertible with a 80's plastic honda interior that was god awful, no visibility out of the rear and just a let down.

I've never heard of engine issues until I read this thread. is it effecting the 2nd hand resale values?

Strange, I thought everyone was happy with the rsoc? This guy was on his way to the local meet in his focus when he decided to take a quick break at the side of the road to air the engine out a bit.

I reckon so, on release the were fetching in the mid 30k's with people paying way over the retail price just to get their hands on one and avoid the waiting lists, madness imo

I had a look on rs directs site the other day, there was a nitrous blue mk3 on there 27k with an ultimate green mk2 for 28k, I know which one I'd rather have

in 2 years time ill be debt free and planning on buying a good car for around the Ł20/25G mark. the latest focus rs would be a contender. I expect ford will have got their act together and sorted them by then!

Most car manufacturers have there problems. Toyota's used to burn oil. When I worked on them i used to replace 2 to 3 a week.

I also used to work for VW. The only thing I can say about them is No Comment.

It's like people used to slate Fiats and Alfas. Yet again they had there problems. The Alfas weren't that bad.

Why did Ford think it would be a good idea to cast the block like they did. Surely they must of known a thin block wasn't gonna last long.

Every car is built to a cost. Why waste material and money when you don't need to?

In this instance, they got it wrong. No analysis of a component prior to production is foolproof.

to be fair the reply the RSOC gave to Andy Barratt was piss poor - it must have taken all of 5 seconds to come up with that shite reply.

At least spend some time and think about it before you send that tripe
