Default ** Crackle or Chrome **

Thinking or having all the polished alloy under the bonnet either chrome plated or bright silver crackle same finish as cambelt cover, rocker cover ect.

Whats your thoughts?

I think it is a good balance as it is but black crackle looks good.

Cossies often look very busy under the bonnet but yours is clean, neat and tidy.

Not a fan of the all black engine bays thanks for the suggestion.

To me it looks fine as it is but I guess chrome is easier to keep clean than alloy.
Cleaning and polishing alloy with Solvol Autosol to me is no problem and after a while can be almost as shiny as chrome. To keep your engine bay clean would be pretty staightforward for me.

i cant be bothered with all that polishing under the bonnet - had loads of ally in my moonstone 3dr and was a constant pain to keep it clean, especially as the car lived outside and as soon as it rained all my hard work went to shit.

All black for me

It's hard work to polish it 2 hours and a sore back to go with it.

Mick at Spraystation can paint things to look like chrome, it is not 100% polished but I had it done on my rocker cover and it is quite shiny.

I've got a place sorted for have the parts plated. There is loads of different types of plating from dull to glass finish.

Brushed alloy plating looks good aswel which everyone I get done it will be a lot easy to clean the alloy.

Keeping your car inside a garage is essential really when you have a lot of alloy and chrome engine bay parts ,as outside, condensation will form and affect everything badly.

Just spent about 3 hours giving my engine bay a spruce up but I enjoy it.

Not what some people like but it suits me

The engine bay has been the only part of my car I've ever enjoyed cleaning for some strange reason!

matt black crackle finish would be my preference, the chrome bling looks nice but as said too much cleaning to maintain it.

I used to get people commenting on under the bonnet on my saph "ooh its dirty" etc etc my reply

"leave it out, its bad enough to keep the interior and exterior clean"
