Default Sapphire Door Card Leather / Vinyl.

Does anyone know where to get the door panel material from?

Anything that's a good match will do.

Mine are absolutely shot.

Don’t think the eBay ones quite look like that
They look as if they’ve been professionally retrimmed in leather
I had Quote of Ł800 just for fronts

Is that the ones from j-f-customs? Seems like from the photo if they are trimmed / fitted properly they look pretty good. The chances of finding mint ones from a breakers these days is almost zero. Next best thing if the original Ford ones are buggered.

Yes the ones they have on eBay. I’m ordering a full set this month. Buying genuine ones is a waste of time. About 7 or 8 years ago I paid good money for a mint set. There now the same as the ones they replaced lol. In today’s money no way would I fit genuine ones

I'm not after fitting covers, I'm trying to find a similar match to the original material.

I know over the years people have found pretty much the right stuff, just need to know where from

covers do look sound though..

To me it seems that this company that make the covers has researched the problem and come up with the answer. Finding the right material that will match the Raven leather and then getting it cut and shaped properly would be pretty difficult where these ones are ready to go.

After chatting with the guy who sent me that picture of them fitted he said his only problem which was no big one. Was the leather didn’t quite match the leather on the seats. But that’s still a million times better than the mess they look when they shrink lol. And as I’ve had genuine good condition ones are expensive and they too shrink over time! But the above ones will only be as good as the person who is fitting them

I bought some vinyl and I retrimmed mine. If my photobucket account wasn't fooked up I would go load a pic.

Glenn. Interested to see these photos as I was thinking of trying the same. You know you can post photos directly from here now - no need to use photobucket. I believe I read somewhere that even the leather seat equipped cars still had vinyl on the door cards (the main bits, not the insert). How did you get on stretching the vinyl over the handle area. Did you use heat?
Thanks David

Try this dude, I wouldn’t go messing with them yourself, total waste of money IMO, it’s quite a specialized job to get it looking right.

Definitely no point fitting them yourself but if you buy the covers and have them fitted by a professional trimmer they can look spot on.
Those ones above look awful zoomed in lol they look like there shrinking straight off lol.

And at 500 euros , for each one or all 4? Could be an expensive job!

I got my pb account to work.

Here's pics of my door cards.

I have tried in the past to rap a complete door card which was hard to I cut the arm rest out cause it's a lot easier to rap them this way.

They are by far better than they were.

Hey Glenn. How were the perforated inserts attached. I haven't looked at my cosworth ones yet, but some spare cloth ones I have (that I was thinking of trying to do the recovering on) appear to be kind of riveted on. Not sure how to get them off, while leaving them re-usable. Thanks again David

The plastic rivets snapped off mine and I just used silicone to glue them back on.

the rear doorcards on my saph are covered in black alcantara/suede.

The fronts are set of early free grey cloth doorcards i painted satin black and they are fine.

Ive got a spare set of leather doorcards but the leather needs stretching but i cannot be bothered so just left them in the garage as spares

I've heated the vinyl up on some door cars and have tried to stretch them and that was a chew on too. They never went back to how they were suppose to look.

Not quite sure what you are showing in your photo's? Are the door cards spray painted to look like leather or are they covered in new leather? They look very well finished.

Hi, i coated the naked door cards (wood) with spray filler, (after sanding all the glue off) , sanded with p800 wet, dipped with a sponge plastidip (8 coats), and now coloured the door card with leather colourant. Next week i will put the semi gloss finisher on. Looks like new. I allready did the front recaro’s . Will put on some pics if interrested.

You have certainly done a very good job of restoring the Recaros. They look like new again. Not so sure of the door cards, although they look well finished you cannot duplicate the grain finish of real leather but you will never have to worry about shrinkage!

That material looks very much like the original Ford inlay.

Hi, i allready did a set door cards 6-7 years ago, not a problem until now.. the leather finisher makes it semi gloss, and for me, it looks tidy enough. Bloody time consuming.. Still not original, but just wanted to show what’s possible. Still better looking than some other options in my opinion. Again, i wanted to show how it can be done, but possible not the perfect option, but i’m glad with the outcome. Grts

As long as you are happy with the result that is all that matters. It is 100% better than worn out leather with loads of shrinkage.

I took the cheap old eBay route lol. One day there get back on the car I hope. I’m not very show and shine with mine as it’s more about how fast it is for me. So I’m happy with the fact there not shrinking and look neat.
