Default Mk1 Focus RS front suspension parts

I've done some digging through good old google and I think I have the answer I'm looking for but wondering if someone can confirm!?

I'm after a Mk1 Focus RS front subframe, lower arms & anti roll bar.. from searching I've come to the conclusion that the subframe is the same as any other 2.0 focus at the very least, if not all Focus'

But, I'm assuming that the lower arms/wishbones are different and the roll bar may be different? Suspecting the lower arms to be longer, as well as roll bar perhaps?

Anyone tell me if this is correct?

Thanks in advance..

Ben

Wishbones are different. They have a larger bush at the rear. There is some debate as to whether the original FRS wishbones have extra bracing inside, but nobody can confirm that 100%
We have fitted standard 2.0 wishbones to my son's FRS, as the genuine FRS items are Ł440+ each from Ford, but the 2.0 ones are around Ł95.
We pushed the bushes out of the new arms and replaced them with the larger Powerflex FRS bushes . Fitted perfectly at about 1/3 of the price.
I think the rollbar is thicker too

I believe the arb's are the same as an st170, quite thin. The subframe is the same. Last thread I read on the arms is that they are braced as one had been cut up and inspected.
Im selling an uprated H&R if you're interested?

Oh and as Del says you can fit standard arms if you fit the correct bushes. I know of many that have and none have failed.... yet.

Trying to find the thread I put up on the RSOC Forum that showed all we did, but it seems to have disappeared.
Can't even find a photo

Here we go. Standard 2.0 wishbone with larger rear FRS carrier and bush and larger diameter 14mm bolt front bush
Ignore the different colours, we f****d up on the order and couldn't be arsed to send them all back!!

Thanks to you both..

I basically need a subframe, lower arms and roll bar for mocking up purposes, none of which will actually be used in the final build - but thanks for your offer of the arms Jon!

Length of the arms must be the same then, which is surprising because I thought the hubs were pushed out for the wider track width.

So if I get a standard subframe I will need FRS brackets for the rear lower arm bush? or in actual fact because I'm potentially not using it in standard form eventually it won't matter..

I think the standard arms will fit just fine. We found that one of the arms that we removed was actually a cheapo pattern part with the smaller bushes. We had to source another FRS arm just for the rear bush carrier.
The wider track comes from the bespoke hubs I believe

Hello, some time ago I purchased what I was told was a RS sub frame and anti roll bar which I never fitted. The only difference that I can see on the sub frame is the hole for the front arm bush is larger, I can measure the thickness of the roll bar and one from a 2.0 and st170 if required. In the end I used the 2.0 sub frame, arms and anti roll bar and it all fitted fine so if you are only using them for a trial fit should be no problem

As said above really the only difference between the subframe is the torque mount bolt is m12 on an rs and m10 on a standard focus and the rear bush on the lower arm is m14 on the rs m12 on a standard focus both are easy enough to sort out

Reviving this, for help on steering rack hopefully

Anyone know if all mk1 focus steering racks are the same dimensions?

Need to know if a FRS one is different in any way? I'm interested to know if the inner steering rack joints are in the same place?

My guess is the racks are all the same, internals might be slightly different, but I don't need to worry about that.

Thanks in advance!

Used a press. They came out with no problems at all. Getting the big bush back into place in the subframe was a bitch though!!

they are essentially the same rack. The ST has stops to prevent you cranking as much lock on (due to wheel/tyre size)
I suspect the RS has a similar arrangement

The racks are all the same the rs rack is supposedly quicker but an sr170 one is the same as the rs but physically all the racks are the same the rs gets its wider track from the hubs hope this helps pal I've got a few rs racks about if you need any measurements and a complete sub frame off the car ATM if you need any other deatails

Thanks for the replies - I did go with a standard rack so thanks for confirmation.

I only need it to mock up on the subframe for the inner track rod positions. I say 'I', I'm not the one doing that bit! It's so that some adjustable rods with rose joints can made to adjust toe in/out

Anyone confirm for me that the focus shocks are thread size M12 x 1.25?

Also, anyone got any RS bush carriers (rear bush on the front lower arm)?

Sorry to hijack this thread, but can anyone tell me if the Mk 1 RS front Struts are the same size as the ST170 ones, specifically the dia of the bottom that goes into the knuckle?
Cheers

For anyone else, the shock damper rods at the top are M12 x 1.25

Would love some RS rear bush carriers though
