Default My 2wd still suprises me after 21years!

Just got my 450bhp 2wd Saff back from its MOT(passed again with no advisories) and on my way home gave it some welly down a nice bit of deserted road which was traffic free. I thought something was wrong with it as the rev limiter cut in at 140mph and then I realised I was still in 4th not 5th!!
Big smile for the rest of the journey home!

Thanks Glenn,I just love the power delivery of my car , people who have been in it think when its in 4th it feels like the acceleration of 3rd it pulls so hard! Never get bored with it even after 21years.

Mate

I know the feeling, I'm going to be 41, and the sap Cossie still puts a massive smile on my face just like when I got it at 21. I just got my sapphire MOT'd too with no issues at all, once done, you just have to launch it!

my one

They are mightily impressive cars, I was an Impreza nut years ago then got took a run in a 2wd cossie and now own that exact car. Mines pulls harder and feels a lot quicker than my mates hawkeye sti that has 170bhp more. Don't know what it is with them.

Our old saffs can still humble most modern performance cars which is what I love about them.

i prefer my cossie to my f80 m3 although about 40bhp in power difference and being slower than the m3 the way it puts down the power its probably the best thing ever it is an EVENT. Where as modern super saloons lack the event.

Even the way the back end comes out is better on the cossie. modern tends to be snappy with its trick suspension and diffs and what not (probably why i crashed it haha).

Agree they are great cars. Talking of 4th gear we had on Data Log 8970 rpm in 4th that's was a tad over 193mph & not at Brunters. Im now too old to do these things prefer to pootle in the Merc but it was fun back in the day.

Got to laugh when people say never meet your heros and that cossies aren't as quick as a hot hatch these days, aye maybe a standard one but not stage 3 onwards as that's where these cars really come alive and that's what they where designed for in the end.

I admit they lack in the handling department but there's a whole host of upgrades that can transform them.

I agree. Ive upset plenty of people in posh cars lol.

Cossies have been slaying cars worth alot more than a sierra since the cossies were launched.

I have never grown tired or bored with mine in all the 21 years I have owned it
Still love the look of it and the way it drives. This is its 21st MOT with no failures as well.

You hit the nail on the head there, it is the power to weight ratio you need to look at, as long as you get that power down.

My pug 205 is around 1000kg and with 469bhp and 500lbft it is quicker than all of my mates supercars and some of his are 600bhp, they are just Lardy BUT on a track they would probably murder me as they have 2010 onwards suspension plus much wider tyres and stiffer chassis. Mine also feels much faster as I don't have 2010 on nvh technology....he is too scared to go in my pug but is not scared of the mac p1 or f1.

Btw, the macs would beat my car

Mine was mot'd today too, didn't really get to drive it as my unit (where I store the car) is opposite the garage that do the mot.

I do sometimes think it would be nice to have the big power in the cossie, mine is and always will be standard. Maybe when I get rich I'll buy another one, they one will be modded!

Why not use it all year round Steve, nothing like a good blast on a dry sunny Winters day. Plus you will get maximum performance with all that lovely cold air getting sucked in to your turbo!!
