Focus ST225
Well it was 3 years ago that I sold my Focus ST170, and although I still have my Carina E project car, I've decided to add an ST225 to my collection lol.
It's the first turbo car I've owned in over 20 years, the last being a RWD Sapphire. I'll hopefully post up some videos and photos of the Focus and the work being done to it. Thanks for stopping by. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/passion...e53b72b234.jpg |

Here's a quick video of me talking through some of the things on my new car.

First off I'm fixing all the faults, then I will start to play. |
They are good cars. Shit on fuel lol but I do like mine. Just had to fit a new maf sensor on mine also send the dash off to be re soldered. Panther black is definitely one of the best colours along with sea grey

I've started to clean mine, whilst I start a shopping list for parts lol.
|
Does anyone know of a good step by step guide to engine tuning the ST225, i.e. parts and order of install. I've a couple of grand I want to put into the car, and I'm not sure on places to buy, and what to buy, thanks.

I spent 10 mins cleaning the plastic in the engine bay :D

Nice! :top:
Got mine a few years back on a whim and just can't stop driving it. A bit disappointed with standard power, but they have so much more to give, it's crazy not to tap in. Here's what I did if it helps, as I started stage 3 and ended up stage 4. BTW I will be letting all my stage 3 bits go soon and as I have been looked after by a few guys on here, if you want them I would let you have the whole lot for *400! Anyway, here's what I did: First I tried stage 3 - *these are my stage 3 parts: Collins CP340 software and USB and OBD cable including diagnostics - used once! New Bosch Focus MK2 RS injectors - used for 150 miles! - still boxed with caps either end lol Pro-Alloy intercooler - fits standard st225 piping - excellent quality intercooler Mongoose 3" sport cat and large downpipe - the car already had 3" non res turbo back. Focus MK2 RS plugs This was really good - if you look at the dyno curve on Collins' site you can see how the power is held at the top end.I used the MSD340 actuator But I had tasted the rush of crazy torque, so... My stage 4 spec now: Focus MK2 RS oil cooler Focus MK2 RS clutch Focus MK2 RS radiator Heavy duty actuator Forge recirc KRS turbos k06 hybrid turbo & stainless braided oil feed Airtec stage 4 intercooler with large boost pipes Wayside stage 4 mapping 340 LPH fuel pump Bosch 550 injectors CAIS block mod Ali crank pulley Airtec 3.5" downpipe The brakes aren't bad - I have just added yellowstuff pads and slotted discs which made a big difference. It is now just as I wanted it and it is so comfortable you can just cruise around listening to the burble or getting 40mpg on the motorway and it will pick up really fast in 6th even at 2700 - and it has been really reliable too. One other bit of advice if you have't done it is to use epoxy to glue the bonnet lock in the contracted position, they never fail once you have done that. I also did the block mod on mine and while you are there it is good on these to ensure the timing is properly aligned with the tool in the cam end - leave the sprockets free wheeling and line them up to the top of the timing cover while the other end is locked by the cam tool before tightening. I did the clutch on my drive and bought the RS LUK clutch and CSC kit for about 180 (the st flywheel was in good condition) so the car is not expensive to mod, especially if you don't mind doing a bit yourself. It's well designed and good to work on. A lot of the time it is easier to get parts from Volvo - for example the rod cap bolts were stupid expensive from Ford, but really cheap direct from Volvo. Have fun! |

what’s this about? I’ve seen a few with the bonnets gone up on Facebook. What do you bond?
If you just undo the lock from the slam panel you will see the plastic part that moves up and down. If you fix it in the contracted position it can't move and the plastic piece has to transmit for a shorter duration and can't dislocate. |
Well having bought a replacement, mine broke just before fitting it lol.

https://youtu.be/QyOE2CWopB4 Shame, as you could have fixed that without a new one if I had posted sooner :tiff:. There are 2 types of failures - the cross connector becomes slightly dislodged (can be forced back in with screwdriver) and where the cross connector has moved completely and has no connection, or has broken, in which case you need to break off the moving part and can't reuse it. In your case the 'lateral movement' you refer to is not wear, they are like that new. it is an awkward attaempt at a security device :fume:. In your case if you had time to use an expoxy to bond in the contracted position (removing the movement and slack) it would have been ok. Still easy to say that after right! :poke: Good vid, keep them coming and good luck  |
Thanks Nathan, I appreciate the tips :D
In the future I may look to removing it altogether and having bonnet latches ? Here's a new video of me removing the awful mud flaps lol. |
I'm still busy working away at the little faults on this car. Here's a video where I sort out the dash display problem.

Still doing small jobs to the ST though. |
Well I've been after some Team Dynamics Pro Race wheels pretty much since I bought the ST, but I've not been able to find any. So when I spoke to Demon Tweeks they said these new wheels had been released this week by Team Dynamics, so I ordered a set along with some sticky Advan tyres... It's transformed the car, and saved weight.

A new video is up.

Attachment 181334 Here's mine, I've spent a fortune on it since I've had it. Love it to bits. I owned my first one back in 2009 and sold it due to expensive kids, houses etc. I love this one, probably won't sell it for a long time. |
