If you have the Haynes manual it tells you in there what sequence the wishbones have to be tightened in:
Picture is looking at nearside wishbone, hope it comes out OK page 10.9 if you have it.
I didn't actually do it this way as the manual didn't arrive ntil after I put it back together, but as soon as weather improves I'm going out to re-do it.Mine was way out beforehand, probably because he guy who did it did one side at a time and didn't have it hanging on stands (i.e. with wishbones unsupported) and I reckon that meant the small amount of play in the slotted rear holes weren't sitting right. As a result my steering wheel was off to the right about 1 o'clock and camber on nearside was way out. I put mine up on stands with the wishbones hanging and did both sides together , bolting them up with no weight on, and it's pretty much cured it.

The weather during the week has on the whole been kind to me so I have managed to get most of it back together again, have some bits left over though:

Yes it now only has 5 gears
The flywheel, standard clutch, gearbox, driveshaft's and gear selector have all been donated from my other focus (a 2.0) and are now fitted to the ST
have a few small things to finish, hope to be driving it soon.

That's interesting Mate What's the reason ? I've heard other people talking about swapping, but not sure why, better ratios are they ?

The main reason is to get rid of the dual mass flywheel!! and the cost.
I would need to have replaced the flywheel, clutch and the long drive shaft if keeping it standard. Ł500 approx.
But I bought a new clutch and driveshaft for my other focus last year which were no longer required also the rest of the parts were not being used and kept as spares which I would probably never use, so far all its cost me is 2 pinch bolts, gearbox oil and brake fluid which I would have had to replace anyway.
2.0 focus's can be bought for Ł200 and if you sell the engine and a few other parts this would give you the parts required for almost nothing
No idea how its going to drive, will find out soon I hope

makes sense really. I have read on a few ocassions that people prefer the MTX ratios.
Personally i think they're dreadful compared to the Getrag, but i don't really drive mine on the roads.
Bit of a joke really how it's cheaper to buy another car to convert your own, than it is to upgrade to a single mass for the getrag box

A replacement dual mass is approx. Ł300 a TTV flywheel is Ł350 (demon tweeks) but you will still need to source a usable clutch, TTV flywheel and clutch package Ł650 (Pumaspeed) or a standard flywheel which opens up the use of mk1 RS clutches or a cheap standard clutch but you have to change to a 5 speed mtx gearbox
Had a bit of trouble bleeding the clutch, took 3 attempts but seems ok now. Have only taken the car for a small test drive to the shops and back so its a bit early to say how it now drives

I'm Finding My Feet Here Now
You can have a better price directly from TTV...
The price of the clutch for the solid flywheel conversion is nothing compared to the MTX75 clutch!

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
I didn't think that ttv sold direct ?
The ttv fly' is a very nice piece. I had one with the cermetalic paddle clutch and it's nearer a grand with a new thrust bearing.
I am after one for my Renault.
I am still sure there is a diy option for the 6 speed.

A bit of news:
Decided middle of last week that the car has come to the end of the road so over this wet and cold weekend the engine and gearbox was removed and the car put on the trailer, next step is to remove anything of use before sending the shell for scrap

Well for the first time there is a plan of sorts: the engine and gearbox are not needed so have been put to one side, front subframe, steering rack and rear beam are going on the track car, lots of other parts are going to get used on my new project (coming soon) and anything left goes to the scrap man

All sounds really interesting can't wait for an update.

Finally managed to get the windscreen removed which was the last part needed from the car so today it went to the scrap man, that's the end for ST170 number 2 and time to move onto ST170 number 3

Passed by the scrap place today and had to take one last photo of "number 2" and here is "number 3" which is a Capri blue 3 door which has been in an accident. The front wings, bonnet, head lights and bumper were damaged and removed, the windscreen is shattered and the airbags went off, also it needs a new exhaust and tyres.

You've had a nice little collection of ST's glad you able to save one of them.

Well it has been a very long time and apart from getting the windscreen fitted nothing has been done, so it was good to be able to spend the last few days working on it.
First up the stainless steel exhaust manifold and system from the black car has been fitted, unfortunately the dipstick tube broke so that had to be replaced.
Next the RS front and rear seats have been bolted in (door cards and steering wheel will have to wait)
I bought new front suspension for the black car so it made sense to fit it all onto this one, new dampers, top mounts, anti roll bar links and Eibach lowering springs (I will do the rears another day)
The stainless steel tank straps from the black car were kept and have now gone onto this car
I bought a bonnet, wing, bumper and grill in " capri blue " from Costina on here only to find that the colour of the car is in fact " blue print " so managed to buy the correct colour parts from 1pd, thank you to the pair off you I got there in the end and the car is looking a lot better

I had not realised it was so long ago I did the last updates, so here is what's been happening
Towards the end of 2019 I put the car into a body shop for a check over, they found the damage to the chassis leg just behind the crash bar which I knew about and confirmed it was ok and not worth fixing and played with the panels to get the gaps nice etc.
With all that's been going on in 2020 I had decided to let this car go to a new home so spent some time doing the final details and a week ago put it in for an mot test. Well it took as long to write the failure sheet as it did to do the inspection!! The short summary is the rear callipers, steering rack and both sills need replacing and the rear wheel arches have holes that should not be there.
After a small holiday camping in the rain which gave me some time to ponder what to do next, the plan is now to break the car using most of the parts in my other cars
