nice work so what paint u using as won't just bubbles off whenyour turbo gets hot

cozzie4d 30-12-2004 02:19 PM

I use heat resisting paint, but it only resists till 650 degrees )-;
So when my engine's together in a few months, it'll probably melt off.

Maybe a stupid question, but why do people expand their sump with "big wings".
I understand it's to enlarge the capacity, but why?

Filthy Rich 31-12-2004 08:36 AM

Keeps oil cooler m8 for prolonged thrashing and with it being properly baffled theres always oil where u need it when its getting chucked about in corners ;)

cozzie4d 31-12-2004 11:53 AM

Okay sounds clear, the more space to spread the oil in, the cooler it can get.
I'll remember that :top:

luke89 31-12-2004 12:03 PM

Twice the oil , so only goes through the engine to be heated half as often.
Sump now holds 7 liters

Looking good m8, 7 liters is quite a lot indeed :top:

Maybe a stupid question but I think you know the answer,
my engine is now completely unmounted into bits, last week I had a part which I thought was the waterpump, today I got my new waterpump but it didn't look the same :D

It looks a bit like a waterpump and has a pulley too, could this be the powersteering pump?

Filthy Rich 05-01-2005 08:47 PM

water pump is above pullers in pic below

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/0...build05036.jpg

power steering pump is driven by 1 v belt on the nearside of engine bay

cozzie4d 05-01-2005 09:03 PM

Thanks m8, what I thought was the waterpump seems to be the power steering pump ;-)
At least I have a new waterpump now, it's start :DD:
