MEV. 320bhp Jamsport built s2 rs turbo

Ok so ive Had the car a few months now and done a few bits and pieces so thought id post up on here what ive done so far, lots more i want to do over the winter months to get her ready for next year.

This was how the S2 looked when i first got it.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y19...20s2/first.jpg
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y19...195422_806.jpg

Over the last couple of months i have added a rear cage, new lights all round, new plates, de-tinted the car, fitted a genuine ford rear decal back on,new omp suede steering wheel and gauges and just fitted some gas struts under the bonnet(no more pole in the way now!)

Am going to get most parts under the bonnet painted satin black as have had enough of cleaning chrome to last me a life time!

Have fully clayed the car with megs clay bar then mopped the car with poorboys ssr2, merenza power polish, followed by poorboys diamond white show glaze then waxed with collonite 473s.

Inside so far ive taken out the seats and given them a good vax and done the carpets etc, am pleased with how its come up so far.

Next on the list is to get my custom front/rear braces bolted on, rear disc conversion and bias valve fitted, b&m short shifter and a freshen up under the bonnet.

Quick spec of the car also below

Engine mods- 2.1 Zetec bottom end Conversion with Cosworth Racing wrc rods, Cosworth Pistons, Steel Crank, AP shells/bearings/nuts/bolts. Multilayer Head Gasket, cvh " crosshatch" head, Stage 3 cylinder head(jamsport spec) , ported, polished and gas flowed. Solid lifters, titanium valve springs.Newman cam. Vibratechnic mounts, Custom tubular manifold, GT30R roller bearing turbo(jamsport spec), Custom inlet manifold, cosworth idle control valve. Silicone hoses water and boost. Pipercross airfilter. Custom down pipe and mongoose 3.5'' system with 4'' outward rolled tailpipe. Omex 600 Pro electronic management system, focus rs injectors, pro alloy rad & intercooler, coil packs (NO distributor).cts stage 2+ box with Quaife lsd,ap racing 6 paddle clutch,s1 anti rollbar setup, fully polybushed, uprated cosworth fuel pump

Heres how the car looks after 2 months of owning it...

The car is currently on its 3rd cts stage 2+ gearbox. But this time round a new gearset was used and shot Peened, so will see if it lasts any longer. Have got a 6speed st170 box also which if this one lets go (more than likely)then that will be put in. Altho theres alot more work fitting it. The car is great fun to drive and has been built for as minimal amount of lag as possible. Not that keen on the bonnet raisers either but they do serve a purpose and work well keeping the underbonnet temps down.

Hi paul ,Lee at fusion made the cage for me as a one off but makes them to however you want and had him powdercoat it black for me.See your s2 is a 6 speed...how much of a job was it to get the box in and has it lived up to the job well? yours sounds a similar spec car..

jamieRST 08-11-2009 01:15 PM

thought it would be a 2l with coswsorth rods and pistons.suppose your running higher comp then.wish i could have those pistons in my 1.6 lol.so where do you get boost on the gt30 then?

martinmilne 08-11-2009 01:59 PM

looks awsome very clean and great spec

cheers mate will have to look into that ! the six speed box was an apsolute head-ach, but, the result is awsome.
had to have a new rear mount welded to the chassis and a new top mount welded in place.

you'll also need equal length drive shafts (dave Mc), hydraulic pedal box and linkages etc.

and yeah, its lived up too the job... lots of abuse  well worth the work !

regards paul

The car comes on boost early at around 2.4k,wanted the car to spool up as early as poss and as quick as poss without running out of puff through the rev range..

jaiscossie 08-11-2009 04:29 PM

Found a couple of pics of then the car was featured in performance ford and when it was at the totb shootout at brunters.

Car was slightly different spec then, it runs more boost now :-) and is on omex 600 pro with focus rs injectors, instead of the gotech ecu

Hansenturbo 08-11-2009 04:35 PM

Awesome looking car m8 bet it pulls well :)

crazycage 08-11-2009 04:36 PM

No i thought this also... think that figure was a bit optimistic then...iirc from the service history it was more like 290bhp back then or around that mark.

jaiscossie 08-11-2009 04:44 PM

Few pics of the car during its repaint from diamond white to mercedes white.

more like a genuine 250-260 to pull 108mph on the 1/4mile .

my fezz turbo pulls 116.5mph with 310hp, do you plan on doing any 1/4s with now you have it ??

Will be doing a few track days next year in the car and hopefully a few runs up the strip.Have had the car rolling roaded recently on a dd set of rollers, where it made 299.5bhp@15psi and 318bhp@18psi. So will hopefully get some better times in 2010 :-)

you should easy be in the 12s with that power if you can get some good grip in 1st and 2nd.

What tyres are you running on yours? currently have 205/40/17 r888s on mine but do you think some 15s or 16s would be better for the strip.Have a rs1600i double antiroll bar setup fitted which should help also.

crazycage 08-11-2009 07:09 PM

i run 215-50-15s R888s but i really dont know if that is better than running 17s ,i think tim off here runs 17s and he's also run in the 12s but best to just try and see what happens.. if you can get the first 60ft right the rest is easy lol.

mercury grey minter 08-11-2009 07:29 PM

I saw this at JAMSPORT when i was having mine set up.Looked nice.
Dug this pic out.Just see it in the background.I think jamie said you had to skim the back of the rims to fit the brakes.

one of my favourite s2's, be interesting to see how it performs next year. Sure that turbo can handle alot more then 18psi if you get bored lol.

Hell yeah the just the gearbox that worries me lol........

MarK4 08-11-2009 07:56 PM

its a shame there's not a cheap option, touch wood your current box holds out for a while. What box does jamsport recommend? Also what box did christian (apt) and the nms rst's use?

jaiscossie 08-11-2009 08:43 PM

^^The cts stage 2+ should be up to the job fine really, mine has had a new gearset put in which has been shot-peened so hopefully stronger, not to sure what box christians ran or the nms one but do know that a focus st170 box is the way to go imo

fezzajsy 08-11-2009 11:30 PM

looks awesome mate

jaiscossie 09-11-2009 06:55 PM

Just a small update...this turned up today from the powdercoaters so will be fitting it, along with my rear brace at the weekend. The front one was a one off and well chuffed with it :-)
