hi ive been looking on here for a while now and ive got to say there are a lot of lovley cars on here but havent started my owne thread yet so here is my car,
its a 1988 mk2 fiesta festivel and i have owned it for over a year now and since i have had it its had a complete rebuild the car is running a stage 2 cvh engine and turbo on mfi managment but all thats coming out either tommrrow(if the rain stops)or nextweekend to make way for the new engine, the new engine some of you might know as rstchris had it in his white mk3 fiesta that he crashed then shorty bought it and now i have it :DD: thanks shorty for the engine :top: but for those that dont know it the engine its a Black top Zetec (Series 3) 2.1 Ltr Accrilite Forged Low Comp Pistons with Valve Cutouts Eagle Steel H-Section Rods ARP bolts throughout the engine!! Lightened and Balanced Crank Ported and flowed head Area 6 Spec Cams Solid Lifters WRC Spray Jets and ime going to be running it on megasquirt managment with a set of green cossie injectors and a stage 2t3 turbo and ime hoping to get it set up for about 250-300bhp depending on how much my turbo and gear box can take here are a couple of pics of the car as it is now and before any one replys about the state the bonnet is in it will be comming of when the weather warms up for a cool lovered bonnet the full spec of the car minus the engine is cossie front brakes drilled and groved discs goodrich hoses full polly bush kit recaro intera with mk3 centre consle with oil pressure gague and boost gague in forge front mounted intercooler series 2 wheels strut brace front and rear spax shocks with -50mm springs at the front and -30 at the rear adjustbul panhard rod every other part is xr2 full respray in street silver and thats all i can think of but there is probley more lol thanks every one rob http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...0092006115.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...0092006114.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...0092006110.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...t/5e04e8b4.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...3042006047.jpg |

|
Fun cars these ;)
What intercooler is that btw? And from my experience and what i was told when i was building mine, your regret not going for a bigger turbo, T34 on mine is good match A T3 will run out of puff sooooo quick. Just my 2 cents :) |
hi xrt si the intercooler is a forge one(or so i was told lol)the only reason ime going for a t3 is becsue got it already and ime saving up for a t34 at the moment but i want to get it up and running as soon as i can because its my only car
|
looks nice good luck & keep the updates cumming :top:

bit of an update today,i cleaned and painted up my engine bay today becasue it looked a proper mess but i only done the top half because i didnt want to empty the whole bay and with the engine in you dont see the bit i didnt paint any way and i also painted the front cross member aswell to tidy it up a bit
here are some pics of it https://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g...7022007037.jpg https://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g...7022007036.jpg https://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g...7022007035.jpg https://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g...7022007034.jpg https://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g...7022007032.jpg i also built up the engine aswell(put the head back on it)ready for me to put the inlet on it and the turbo here are some pics of the engine(not very good ones though) https://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g...7022007038.jpg https://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g...7022007039.jpg i also got my old mfi engine loom out and ime hopeing to get it wired in tommrrow ime still waiting on a clutch or waiting on some money so i can buy it ime finding it really hard not having a car at the moment and next week is going to be the second week with out it but ime getting there and it will be worth the wait _________________ |
cool...looks pretty damn fresh aswel :top: :top: :top:
|
up date for today, today went quite well but there is always one thing that hapens and it really anoyes you because nothing can be done about it with out spending more money ,so today i managed to fit the engine in and started to get it all pluged and plumed in it took ages to get the engine where i wanted it to be so it lined up with the box but we got there in the end and when i was looking at puting it in i thought the strut brace wouldnt fit so i got all the suspension off and removed it only to find when the engine ws in place the strut brace fitted still and the anoying thing that happened was the inlet is to high so the bonnet dosent close and i dented it aswell but i was going to get a new one any way
here are some pics of the work today https://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g...3032007052.jpg https://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g...3032007053.jpg https://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g...3032007049.jpg https://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g...3032007048.jpg and the dented bonnet(i used a hammer to mod it a little to get it to close) https://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g...3032007056.jpg lucky i moved the rad even more foward because there is no room atall between the rad and turbo now https://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g...3032007050.jpg i also got my injectors and megasquirt today(thanks chris)so tommrrow ime going to make a start on wiring it in thanks for looking rob _________________ |

Looking good mate!
https://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y7...7012007801.jpg My turbo had similar problems but pushed the rad even futher forward. Just got my car mapped to 13psi at MSD. Fooking fun cars :) What you doing for a gearbox? Quaife diff is so worth going for by the way! Be good to see it running mate :) |
Looks nice mate cant wait to see it finished :top: :top: :top:
Brian |
Awesome! Seriously quick cars these
|
Thats going to be mental!! :top:
|
this weekends update, couldnt get ti running today because i still havent got any seals for my injectors but i managed to sort out my bonnet and make the bulge a little nicer to look at and i also finished plumbing all the water and boost pipes in
i also fitted my exhaust up and ahd to mod it a little with a very big hammer so it would clear the crosmember(the turbo is 1inch foward than what it use to be)but now it dosent join up with the rear box so i need a bit of pipe inbetween the two the only thing i need to do to finish it off is to sort out the breathing system and to get a air filter and to do the clutch peddel mod here are some pics of the bonnet just need to get it to work and painted propely https://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g...1032007068.jpg https://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g...1032007067.jpg https://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g...1032007066.jpg and one of the engine looking nice again https://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g...1032007064.jpg its really nice to see it so close to being done compared to how it was a couple of weeks ago thanks for looking rob |
looking awesome there buddy. How come you havent seam welded the shell, does it worry you at all?what radiator have you used, and what have you done with the front breather?
|
Looks hard :top:
ZT build is definitely worth it :DD: |
:top: :top: looks good
|
:top: :top: Thats looking pretty good Rob shame about what happened with the bonnet though.
You going to fit a bonnet raiser to give you a bit of clearance then? |

ime using a rad form a motorfactors, i had the same one im my old car and it makes a lot of diffrence to the other rads i have tryed the front breather i havent done any thing with it yeet but i was either going to run it round to the side of the engine and let it breath that way or conect all 3 up and put it in to a breather pot but i havent decided yet ime trying to find a new bonnet at the moment but ime finding it hard to get one but when i do ime going to be rising the rear of it up so it clears and run it like that :top: |

Brian |
cool beans, has the strut brace been modded at all, and is it an xr2 one?
|
the strut brace is a standard xr2 one,i was realy suprised it fitted because i didnt think it would fit becasue all the mk2's i see running a efi inled dont have them fitted and i thought it was because they didnt fit
|
she is running   but there seems to be a bit of black smoke coming out of the exhaust ,could it be that it is overfueling(cossie greens on ofab)and how can i adjust the fueling so it dosent over fuel
i also had to strip the sump of becasue it was leaking and re seailed it using proper ford sump sealer :top: i also had to strip my rear brakes down becasue of a puddle of brake fluid under the wheel :wall: and found one really bad black hairy mess but i had a set of new shoes and clynders already but i also found my drums are fecked so now its going to be even longer till i can drive it(or at least till monday when i get the new drums) all i have to do now for it to be ready for fitp is to: get engine set up and sort out smoking problem finish tidying loom refit dash fit new shoes and clynders and drums repaint bonnet smooth rear arches and paint thanks for looking :D |
So your making progress then Rob, going to be quite an animal with that engine :top: :top:
|
yeh its slowley getting there :D i just hope with all the power the engine has that it wint rip the car apart  but if it dose i will just reshell it  , ime hopeing my gear box will last me untill after fitp but ime not going to be giving it much untill i get it set up propely becasue ive come to far with it now just for it all to go up in smoke
|
What box you running then??
|
ime running a xr2 one with a s2 rst diff in it
