Default Hi guys - I'm not a newb anymore but here's my Ford Focus

Hi there peeps.

FINALLY decided to register here...................some of you from the Focus world may already know me as your helpful, friendly technical advisor from FFOC but the time has come for me to branch out and maybe see if I can cut it in the wider Ford community If it helps I'm an Electrical/Avionic engineer based up at RAF Coningsby (working on the 'fantastic' Eurofighter ) so I'd like to think I know one end of a spanner from the other

For those that don't know me...........here's the specs of my motor

Show wheels

Road Wheels

track spec

and I like to do a bit of this whenever I get the chance

Couple of vids as well

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=oBqhcmGp8oE

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=BjVDIR-ACec

the car's taken me about 3 years to get to this stage and, as I'm sure most of you can appreciate, it hasn't cost as much as you would have thought, I've done the majority of the hard work myself (usually with borrowed tools ) and learned a heck of a lot along the way, most of the parts have been sourced second hand for cheap (the joys of having lots of people owing you a favour )

Well that's it that's me..........go gentle with me

Welcome to PF mate! I really like what you have done to your Focus, I think it's one of the bext modified examples I have seen for a long time now. Would you like me to make you a signature of your car mate?

Crikey, hadn't expected this to come back up the top!!!

AndyCanning - I've actually got 4 sets of wheels for the car

The 4th set (5 spoke Dezent 17's) have just been refurbished in white and will be having tyres fitted this weekend................but they will be going on the bird's Focus.

Cochyn - Yes I was next to you at Ford Fair on the FF stand..............kept meaning to introduce myself and say hi (I remember your car very well from FFOC) but everytime I was at the car you weren't so I managed to pretty much miss you across the entire day!

Benni - a sig would be absolutely fantastic if you can spare me the time, I'll provide some better photos if you wish.

Unfortunately these are the best pics you're gonna see for a fair ol' while as the car is now resting outside of our station's motor club feeling very sorry for itself...........

I sheared the driver's side engine mount in half last week and had to be towed back by the AA.

The engine is resting on what's left of the mount and the chassis rail! Has chewed the cambelt (but not snapped it thankfully) and the aux belt and, if I'm being realistic, the engine will have to come out to get everything checked out and fixed up properly. Realistically I can't afford to do this until the new year so I'm cracking on with my Corsa GSi resotration which will be re-appearing in the project/resto section shortly!

However it's not all doom and gloom - I'm now toying with the idea of fitting a 2.0 litre bottom end and gearbox to compliment the ported/polished head which Chris Todd believes could see me into the region of 165 - 170 bhp, if the engine is coming out anyways it'd be the perfect opportunity to get everything sorted and slot it all back in with the minimum of fuss........probs won't be till the new year though if I'm honest!

Some more recent-ish pics.

and a couple from Ford Fair

and my new bestest ever favourite photo of the car.

The car's also been in Performance Ford in their reader's cars which Simon Hughes got in touch and asked for some photos and specs for.

Thanks again for the warm welcome and the kind comments

Cochyn - cheers for the bump fella!!! Now I've got you AND Will on my case to get the bastard rebuilt!!! I'm not quite such a newbie now though!!!

Dave J - It's a 1.8 at the moment which, when running, pushing a (Dyno Dynamics) proven 147 horses!

For those not in the know (most of you I'd imagine) or only like looking at pictures.........the car ate the offside mount on the A1 almost exactly a year ago......snapped the 2 mounting studs clean in half leaving me in desperate need of a tow. What's wrong with this picture.......

Caused by these little f***ers

Thankfully I managed to get another one sorted courtesy of a good friend who works on a Ford parts desk and I managed to get everything sorted. Unfortunately as this was my only car at the time I had to get myself a runaround to get back and forth to see 'she who must be obeyed' and, being completely broke, had to find dosh from somewhere.............so parts started coming off the car! All the spare bits I had been hording went fairly quickly and I knew a lot of people had been after my Focus Central ceramic coated exhaust manifold so that went up for sale and sold in about 4 minutes which was good for me but also not good for the car!

Long story cut short the car has been in this state for nearly a year now................

I've managed to keep most of the good parts and have even begun acquiring some bits for the rebuiid. An ST170 manifold with additional pipework to mate up to the 1.8/2.0 litre flexi-pipe has been acquired but it needs heat wrapping, a lambda boss welding into it, an ST170 power steering pipe and dipstick and then installing. Before I can do that though I'm going to have to take an angle grinder to the bloody flexi-pipe as the bastarding bolts snapped taking the FC manifold off!!! I also picked up a Collection rear bumper as well this weekend which I'll have a play with and get sprayed and fitted too to finish off the back end of the car!

In an ideal world I would get hold of a 2.0 litre engine and dump that in.......unfortunately my misses would go absolutely spare if I did that (I had an engine/gearbox/ECU deal all sorted christmas last year but the misses went ape) and I'm looking to get onto the housing market soon which is kinda top priority at the moment..........I've had enough of living next to a runway with bastarding loud jets flying round at 3 in the morning and eating shitty mess food as well! But in the meantime I'll do what little jobs I can and get the car ready for a massive rebuild

Cochyn - Nice to properly meet you too after you parked up next to me at Ford Fair last year (only other Focus) then f***ing ignored me all day you ignorant c***

Nah mate, sorry about that, I think my head was still up me own arse after the night before....a wee bit drunk. Hey, same excuse at Oulton really!

I come up to Barrow quite often, so pass you guys on the way. Need a remap shortly anyway, so will pop by MSD also. You can show me around places in Blackpool I havn't been before!
